On Wigan v Man Hunter last night, some commentator said ' Here you're either Wigan Warriors or Wigan Athletic'.

Not sure how informed that comment is. Surely there must be one or two who watch both codes?

I have heard anecdotally of Wigan Warriors fans whose football team is 'anyone but WAFC'.

My exes dad was a Latics season ticket holder and he always said most football fans in the town’s population of 300k plus supported either of “the Mickey Mousers”.

In general you're either one or the other in Wigan (I'm sure there are some exceptions). For some reason the two teams have a weird rivalry and actually quite dislike each other.

Whereas the vermin and the Rhinos seem to sing the same songs etc

Perhaps the vermin look in envy to their more successful neighbours and indulge in some wistful gloryhunting?

Thats much more like Hull then where RL has always been City's biggest rival.

It's far worse than in Hull which is strange because both clubs have numerous reciprocated rivalries in their own sport. In Hull it's understandable because City have dont really have a proper reciprocated rival.

I bet no one took a backward step either.
With some controversial reffing decisions against the mighty...

Nothing controversial at all, all the teams that went to Aus lost against weaker opposition, it's almost like flying half way around the world isn't the ideal preparation for a game.

They did a couple of years ago, there's a few more since they started winning.

Same as Hull then. FC were down to 3 or 4 thousand before being taken ove4 by Gateshead. Rovers crowds were that poor, under 2,000 not long back that the HDM stopped publishing the figures. Same everywhere virtually. Older ones have rattled about in a deserted BP in front of 3,000 crowds and less.

Same as pretty much any club in any sport, teams get more fans when they get more successful.

Did the England management complain? At least the HDM didn't use "brave" in the headlines about our rugby teams being defeated like they often do.
I wouldn't worry to much Pal !!
It's only a bunch of Hoorah Henry's at the end of the day.
PS even apostrophes :emoticon-0100-smile
