I can't remember a time when we've been on TV so much, although nice for those whom can't make many games, just wondering if being in front of the cameras most weeks has come as a bit of a distraction for our team instead of knuckling down and getting on with the job?
I know most games are televised nowadays but can't help thinking maybe the players react differently when it's screened live in front of the nation..
Thoughts??
 
CERTAINLY TOOK A FEW THOUSAND OFF THE GATE! Sunday afternoon, on a cool Feb afternoon no tv might have reckoned on 33000++ but of course they get more £'s being televised
 
Agree we've been on the box more than I can remember, thankfully for me.
Tbh 1For I think it's the number of extra games (big ones as well) in a short period that's catching up with us, a couple of tactical errors and to his credit admitted by LJ, and a little bit of Lady Luck that's gone missing.
Overall mate we're in a better place than I can ever remember.

Overall i think LJ's doing ok and I agree with you the big games may well have taken their toll along with tactical errors....Must admit i was a bit bemused when I heard that he was measuring the grass before the game!! Not sure we are at that level yet, needs to get the fundamentals in order first IMO..
 
Personally like RP I have been happy we've been on the box but why has the style of play changed so completely, why are we now going direct and giving away goals like confetti at the back, brilliant against Man City, beat 3 Premier teams in the cup and now only 1 win in 10 games (I think), still think we are showing well as a team but the cracks are there for all to see.

Not blaming or shaming but we have got to tighten right up for the next couple of games both players and manager tactics.

Trouble is you cannot legislate for such bad defending, look at Sunderland's third goal, what was JB thinking about letting there winger get to the bye line before setting up the equaliser, then last night the same player falling asleep to allow Leeds to level, just basic defending that's cost us four points.

I think throwing a big man up front has some part to play, not my cup of tea although I don't have a problem with mixing it up once in a while.. The idea was to free up Reid, but like most have said, seems to have changed our style.....On the positive side is that we have stopped the rot with losing and we are capable of scoring...just need to tighten things up/change style when leading!!

I said that on another post. We have started to use Diedhiou as a Heskey-type target man. To be fair to the guy he has a great first touch, but not much else excites me about him to be honest. He seems very slow to me. If he could start laying balls off to Reid or an overlapping winger then that would be great but I haven’t seen much of that tbh.

Reid isn't the player to play for 'flick ons' from a big man and I hope LJ never asks him to play that kind of game.
He has been an absolute revelation this season playing up top and the first to press.
I've marvelled at his effort, work rate and his understanding of the role LJ has asked him to play.
I'm not advocating Matt Taylor but he would be more the kind of player you're talking about to play in that role with Fammy.

You guys have watched more than me but from the outside we looked better without a big man.
Knocking long balls landing on Fammy's head 10feet off the ground is just losing possession and then back come the opposition. We looked and performed much better without him.
I know it's good to mix it up but the overriding temptation for a defender is to knock it long when they know a Target Man is playing.
Wtf do I know, I just hope we get back to the 'beautiful game' that got us to 2nd on Boxing Day.

Fair enough re: Reid and spot on about being better without a target man.

Very astute.. but it must be inaccurate because Red Robin demanded we have a recognised striker up front cos Bobby Reid could cut it there!

Or maybe he just talks bollocks?
