If you actually see the Twitter quotes he has never really come out and plainly criticised the club fully. They were a bit limp TBH. Enriques twits were more to the point and he was offered 'the deal of his life' apparently by Ash and DL. Its one rule for one and one rule for another. JE fits into their European model, JB didnt.

Yea as Warm Pouch also says, the contract 'offer' was off the table ages ago. Twitter had nothing to do with it. Its been used as an excuse.

They have managed to get rid of Hughton, Nolan and Barton with no real substance except for a few lame excuses. They tarnished Carroll's name as he was being pushed onto a chopper to Liverpool for the sake of preventing a fans backlash.

    They are pathetic.

And that, my friends, is the whole point. Barton acted unprofessionally, and he tried to play hardball. Ashley gets a lot of stick, but if I was him and Barton had acted that way towards me (esp. after how the club has stood by him) I would let him leave too.

Now he is getting caught out because of it. He was completely out-maneuvered by Ashley. I'm sure Ashley would let him stay if he asked... Or maybe groveled?

If you actually believe that than you really dont know the situation or what the hell is going on. I hope that was sarcasm.

I would have thought these lyrics were more applicable to you: <laugh>

    Good times for a change
    See, the luck I've had
    Can make a good man
    Turn bad

    So please please please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want
    This time

Haven't had a dream in a long time
    See, the life I've had
Can make a good man bad

So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time

What if he breaks his leg without a contract being agreed though?

I would say this for Barton:

The boy with the thorn in his side
    Behind the hatred there lies
    A murderous desire for love
How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me ?
How can they hear me say those words
Still they don't believe me ?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever believe me ?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever, they ever, believe me ?
    Oh ...

The boy with the thorn in his side
    Behind the hatred there lies
    A plundering desire for love
How can they see the Love in our eyes
And still they don't believe us ?
    And after all this time
They don't want to believe us
And if they don't believe us now
Will they ever believe us ?
And when you want to Live
    How do you start ?
    Where do you go ?
Who do you need to know ?

Bollocks. As soon as he started making idle threats along the lines of #mejonasjosenext after Nolan went his behaviour was completely unprofessional and embarassing to the club who'd just brought in a load of new players. I can't quote everything he's said, but what I've read so far breaches any kind of conduct I'd expect from an employee.

So why wasn't Enrique given the same treatment?

To be honest that has jack all to do with job security, its all relative. It is an occupation at the end of the day and some normal work rules apply (I wouldn't say all because sport is unique) You ask any player in his situation and they'd want the security of a longer contract. As I've said previously none of us know what kind of financial commitments these guys have made with the silly money they are paid. They could have loads invested and need to earn a certain amount to pay the bills. It could be in the form of investments, horses, buying houses etc. I know Michael Owen couldn't afford to not play football despite the outrageous amounts he has earned. The financial commitment with his stables means he has to continue. Robbie Fowler was the same. He invested loads in property and needed to keep earning a certain amount to meet the various bills. I know Joey has horses but wouldn't know if he has other interests. Most of them have top financial advisers inveting their money for them.

If he hasn't been able to sort his future out with the money he's been paid so far, he must be a bigger dick than I thought.

Cause Enrique doesn't have as long a history of being out of order.

Enrique was fined and didn't touch Twitter again, then was sold for a fee. Precedents don't exist for Twitter use at the moment, they need to sooner rather than later.

So why wasnt Barton fined instead of being told to find a new club?
