Horse I have small shares in - 6 45 Newcastle - Foxy Boy

"Rebecca states that he is working well & he
should have come on for his last run, so fingers crossed he
can finish in the 1st 3, this time. "

Make of it what you will. Bit ****ed off that Jason Hart was originally booked (2 winners 1 second from 3 rides for Rebecca and is now riding a diff horse in the same race Spirit of Zebedee, probably end up beating it and FB will come 2nd, but fingers x'd!

A little bet for Friday - Midnight Monty 4/1 in the Royal Artillery Gold Cup at Sandown. Owned, trained and ridden by military men from the same regiment. It will definitely by trying. Good luck everyone and all the best with yours Chelsea.

aren't most of them owned and ridden by military types?
The owner of Orbasa has told his friends to back it , but only for fun money ! doesn't sound that confident to me !

Riders have to be military. Just struck me that with trainer, owners and rider are all military and all the same regiment this would be a very special race for them. Forgetting all that though I think Midnight Monty has a great chance anyway.

Hi Chan, this horse was purchased with the goal of winning the military races for the hussars. Jamie Snowden won the race himself as a jockey four times and the Royal Artillery four times, its in his genes to try to win it. Almost like their Gold Cup.
They face some stiff opposition though especially from Rathlin Rose who hosed up in the race last year. My mare won it the previous year but Fergal surprisingly wasnt interested in it this time round. There is a few more quid on offer at Ffos Las on Sunday without the need to rely on an amateur.

People may remember, or they may not, that before Christmas I spoke about a 3YO (now 4YO) who had been given 3 very, ummmmmmmmmmmm how do I say this diplomatically, ummmmmmmmmm gentle introductory outings over hurdles and had secured, in the process, what would appear to be the most unbelievably low perch to commence a handicap hurdling career. It’s so eye-catching that his Flat and Hurdles ratings aren’t, unlike is the norm, poles apart!

Anyway he’s been given an entry for next Wednesday (the first since he originally obtained his hurdling perch) but it’s on the bally blinkin' level! If you worked out who the horse was (I can’t remember those who did…sorry) the advice would be, at the moment, not to back it next week (although he hasn’t yet run for current connections on the Flat so this could be reviewed. Especially once the final ants, no sorry the final decs, are known). But I can’t wait until he goes finally goes handicap hurdling and his rating, in that sphere, can be exploited.

Cor blimey the above sounds very ‘cloak and dagger’. What, what?!? However, ‘county set’ confidentiality and all that. You know how it is, team. The horse in question, incidentally, is on the left (and for a short while, unless the regular readers are vociferous in their objections, he’ll replace Lieutenant Henderson).

I’ve just re-read my above post. I do wonder if the steward forgot to put the T in my mid-morn GnT!

As my regular readers are aware when it comes to races for fillies / mares I always try to make my selection the one with the loveliest name. When it comes to those military heats I base my selection on the Corinthian with the most absurd name. There are quite a few candidates it would appear this year but I’d have to side with, on this basis, Leo Luna ridden by Mr CJD (is his nickname ‘mad cow’ by the way. Boom, boom…) Rawdon –Mogg.

Meanwhile, if Lieutenant Will Kellard obliges will he usurp Lieutenant Henderson as the forum’s favourite Lieutenant?!? I doubt it but he could provide a challenge to Columbo and Gruber (currently ranked 2nd and 3rd).

Have you my old love. Not surprised and I think you’d be ideal for a part in either ‘The Lion King’ or ‘Chicago’.

Now that Stick has shared his ambitions the question must be what are other forum members aspirations?!?

Retirement. If Captain Rawdon Mogg is to prevail this afternoon he'll need to have been down the gym regularly and had a long period of abstinence from frivolities in the officers mess. Did you see his mount's last run? The jockey earned his win bonus that day. Made the exertions on those Who Dares Wins SAS type reality series look like a walk in the park.
