And what research would you suggest he do to find out the current debt level?

He didn't know what the debt was at the last accounts. He wasn't prepared or didn't want to offend.

It was a soft soap interview with the hope of getting commentary back on RH.

He knew perfectly well what the debt was in the accounts, we all do, that wasn’t the question. He wanted to know what the debt is now, something impossible to research, as only the Allams know the answer.

But surely that is skirting around the possibility that Brady used his polical skill (of your definition: the art is letting people believe you are going to do what they want, even when you’re not) to hoodwink Allam and then act as if nothing of the sort was ever intended or discussed. For all that I dislike the Allams I can easily understand their anger and indignation if this was the case. It certainly makes quite a bit of sense.

I don't think either of them knew the level of debt in the last accounts.

The only figure mentioned was the £30m profit (in fact close to £35m) which Ehab bluffed away as going towards this season's costs. Except he failed to mention
the massive parachute payments received this season which would easily cover those costs and more.

Burnsy should also have asked how they calculate the interest payments on the debt and if these payments are passed onto another third party (ie other unnamed investors).
And wouldn't a reduction of those interest payments effectively make the club more profitable/less in debt and hence facilitate a quicker sale ?

My definition was a tongue in cheek reply to a tongue in cheek comment, as I said earlier
That’s obvioulsy not my actual definition of politics
I doubt even he was hoodwinked, but if Allam (and don’t forget I have no inside info at all) said something along the lines of ‘it would be ideal for me if I got the freehold for the stadium’ and someone else said ‘yes it would, wouldn’t it’ then I wouldn’t be surprised if he heard that as ‘you can have the freehold’ because he seems to hear everything else the way he wants reality to be

I have no sympathy for him at all if that was the case ... although to be fair I have no sympathy at all even if someone did lie to him and say directly he could have it so I’m maybe not a good barometer

Don't you dare say things like this it was a great interview. Well done Dave.
Anyway he was too busy polishing his 3 broadcasting awards.

Can you give me your actual definition of politics then.
I demand at least 5000 words, full bibliography and properly referenced. By 12pm Tuesday. Emailed to me and two paper copies handed in to the main office.

I can’t be arsed to listen to it again, but I’m pretty sure Burnsy asked him if they would be happy to just get their money back and specifically mentioned that as being £50-60m.

Of course you are not a good barometer. Too up and down and can't deal with pressure.

If Assam Allam thought that a single councilor could give away a community asset worth millions then he is dafter than I thought.

I have no idea of the details to do such a thing, but knowing a little bit about local politics I am sure it would be a long drawn out process with many meetings attended by loads of interested parties.

But if he thought the head of the council was on his side...

Don't tell me posters actually believe business deals are all out in the open and honest????
Behind closed doors with some sweeteners.
You know like the bloke who, approved a mortgage on the stadium for Adam and his backer to get his money out and then getting a job with the smc afterwards.

But a single councillor can speak as a qualified or informal representative - things are rarely as absolute as it may seem. That's not just Councils, but business too.
