As I understand it Spion Kop refers to a hill in South Africa, made famous in the Boer War. The football terraces were said to be similar in the way they rose, hence calling them spion kop, or Kop for short. Whether or not Liverpool were the first to do this, so as a result have kept it as their own, I have no idea. I mean, it’s not as if they harp on about the past, is it.
My ex father-in-law used to tell stories about the 'Ash Bank' at Stoke. The home supporters end consisted of coal slag (or ash) from local mines, heaped into a bank and grassed over.

The Liverpool Echo is as lazy and unimaginative as your joke of a recruiting department. Seriously, this is beyond embarrassing now. Liverpool should just **** off, for everyone's sake.
