Yeah he really went missing against Chelsea at the Bridge eh ? He is 20 has played every game for us and needs a cattermole type alongside him in the middle. He is developing and is going to have ups and downs. This is the problem with a lot of Sunderland "fans" far to quick to criticise and look at faults rather than encourage our players.

its an opinion, not a fact, and a bloody **** one at that. Blinded cos of the local lad image? Hardly, he was poor last night and I admit that, but one game doesnt make him a bad player. He was cracking against Chelsea when we beat them 0-3, and he has been good 62 out of 68 games for us so far (some in another thread said he had 6 bad games).
Big Chris - you wouldn't know a good footballer if he came up to you and offered some inside knowledge to share with us. I don't so much advise you back off as **** off. if all you have to offer about the lad is negative crap. Henderson is a young lad learning his trade and only in his second season as a pro footballer. Everyone forgets that at this age, Beckham was out on loan in the Championship. He could make errors and have **** games away from the spotlight, whereas Jordan has been plunged straight into action in the toughest league in the world. I don't deny the lads form has dipped of late but having his fellow Sunderland fans berate him and slag him off wont make him a better player. He is a better wide right player than central midfielder but our squad keeps picking up injuries and he doesn't, so he is played there every game. Muntari will give Brucie some options to move him wider or even rest him some games. SAF is a canny judge of a player and they are tapping into the potential of the kid not 2 or 3 games. He has talent and ambition (Henderson) and if a bod of ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã20m came in, or a deal for cash and Welbeck, I'd seriously look at it. We need a Welbeck more than a Henderson at the minute but that doesn't mean in any way Jordan is a **** player.
Thats just the kind of support a young 20 year old lad from our region needs isnt it. He is SAFC through and through and is finding his feet in the game. The lad has had a great couple of seasons and i think he will be given a rest once Catts and Muntari are back in the squad. Please give him time cos he is the greatest local talent we have had at this club since the Venison and Pickering era !! I think we need to dampen the expectation fire a little bit here lads or we will be in danger of sounding like NUFC fans ! Anyway end of rant

Thing is though, its not just this game he has been poor. He consistently goes missing, hits dead balls to the first man, and lets player after player run past him. You say he has been decent, I have to agree with big chris here, if this lad wasn't a "local hero" there would be far far more people who have seen the light
Great stats! I agree with the sensible comments below; he is the best talent to come out of the academy for some time and he desparately needs a rest and a refresh. he will learn and come again even better with quality players around him. That is how Wenger and SAF do it, and thats how Brucie will do it too, now that he has depth in the midfield. Lrts hope Colback and Cook et al come on in the same way.

needs a ball winner alongside him as he just chases the ball all the time when up against a good midfield like chelsea and it makes him look very poor but i think he would have looked very good in chelseas midfield last night,needs to work on his tackling and someone wants to tell him he can head the ball if he wants to
Big Chris, this is well trodden ground. Cheers for another WUMming article. Usually you bring a chortle or two from me, but today I've bitten. So here's my bite I would say Henderson's play has two limitations: his shooting and his tackling. And last night he was playing the deep covering role, with Ricco and Steeeeed pushed up. This position exposes his comparatively weaker tackling, then factor in an on-fire Anelka and last night's performance is understandable. However, it is yet more valuable experience and it wasn't a performance I would judge his entire ability by.
I agree ...I also agree that he's much more effective on the right wing, perhaps now that we have Muntari and when Cattermole gets fit we might be able to use him there week in week out As for Chris's opinion - he's lost all credibility. As for off games, well Dogba has had a few recently, as has Rooney - does that make them suddenly sh!te?
