It always my plan to back the club into the Championship League. I had no idea we would be able to do it so quickly and so easily despite everything I was told.
Les Reed can go **** himself. Arrogant ****. He's had a whole ****ing month to spend the Van Dijk money and he's spent 25% of it. The man's a disgrace.
He won’t care, he’s sat in his comfortable directors chair tonight, when in all honesty he should be trying to sort this **** out, by getting a couple of players in. His arrogance is catching us up fast.
I called it we would only spend a fraction and got shot down...............I agree Les has to go......
I wouldn't even be that generous. If the club hadn't already budgeted for a new striker (we're hardly poor!!), then my opinion of them falls even further. And it's already at rock bottom; has been for 18 months. It's not like we haven't known for a long time that we struggle to score. If they club had already budgeted from a new striker, then we potentially haven't spent a single penny of the Virgil money.
Jeez, we do have anger management issues on here, don’t we? Ok, I know, sandals. I will try to get into the spirit of the thread. Ahem... Les Reed has been secretly working to undermine the club and relegate Saints. This is to fulfill the desire of our new owner, who wants to see his investment disappear. It’s the only explanation that fits the facts. Well, other than the fact that recruitment is very difficult at this level and it doesn’t always come off. Nah, bollocks. Reed is either evil. Or useless. Or both.
Well I always feel that it’s best to question the motives of everyone I disagree with. It keeps me nicely bitter and twisted.
To be fair, the quickest way for our new owner to get a return on investment is if we do go down. Not saying that’s what’s happening, but it’s hardly a disaster scenario. Gao spent £210m on 80% of SFC, and has already recouped £54m of that on the Van Dijk deal minus £15.2m on the Carillo deal. So, he’s in the hole for ~£170m. Now, if we go down, the sales of Bertrand, Cedric, Hoedt, Romeu, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Gabbiadini, & Carillo in the current market would return all of that even as an 80% shareholder, leaving you with all the property, grounds, and a club with decent youngsters at Championship level playing to get back up. Not saying at all this is what’s happening, but Kat sold us massively cheap in order to pay off her late fathers unexpected tax bill. Gao as a businessman would’ve seen he was on a no lose bet.
Perhaps not. But he has previously done well and I to be fair, isn’t that questioning motives again? Wouldn’t it be more profitable to keep the team in the premiership and continue to sell players at a profit every year and still benefit from the TV money. We really are worth more than the sum of our parts.
The only thing I’m questioning CF is that there is any intent to compete, by investing money on the playing staff. It seems for a while now that we’re run at profit for our past and now present owners. I’m sure they don’t want us to go down, and would prefer to skim £30-50m per year out in profits while maintaining the value of the club for as long as they can keep us up. However, I don’t believe that our new owners will make a loss even if relegation hits in season 1.
The best case scenario is finishing 17th every year with minimal investment, finishing higher would be a nice bonus but usually requires spending a bit of money
