and really we've only improved our defence since then as we didn't have Virgil available then either. I'm under the impression that our poor defence record is down to our faultering attack which makes it easier for oppositon teams to push players forward to put pressure on us.
2 of those wins were against Middlesbrough & Sunderland who were relegated. We've also failed to address the issues that the squad has since then, Carrillo could be part of the puzzle but we're still lacking pace upfront, and power/leadership in defence. As a squad we have no real strengths, we're tidy with the ball but ultimately we're one dimensional and predictable, but not solid enough (due to a poor defence) to hold on to results. While we were better in terms of results under Puel second half of last season, I don't think we'd be that much better off under him than we are now. nb - in our first 15 games under Pellegrino, we won 4, drew 5 & lost 6. So there's not a lot of difference there.
I think l can to Ralph's job with ease: if it means talking ***t everytime l opened my mouth: l'm your man! And you have the added value in that l speak actual English - not some North American abomination.
Totally agree, if you don't score or look like scoring then everything relies on not conceding and that's a huge burden every game. Score goals, take the pressure off, keep attacking and keep the pressure off. Sadly MP2 seems to like to declare at around the 50 minute mark and defend which just invites more and more pressure which inevitably leads to conceding goals. Would rather we lost trying to win the game than lose trying to hold on to it and defend for 45 minutes Just smacks of the Middlesbro and Everton games when we went down... don't socre enough or keep attacking and there is always the chance the opposition will nick one
Quincy Promes has said he is staying. https://sport24.ru/news/football/20...u_mne_idut_krasno-belyye_tsveta?from=mainpage You’d better have a back-up plan Les or we will be coming for you.
I don't know what the hell has gone wrong with Les Reed, were we giving him too much credit for our success before?. He has made some fundamentally bad decisions since last Summer that has basically put the team in the position it is now.
I saw someone showed evidence that the decline started when the CEO left (Rogers I think?). To my knowledge we haven't replaced him so Reed has had free reign. Maybe he has too much to over see and it has been to the detriment of the actual football side of things. Also Paul Mitchell was basically the recruitment guy, Ross Wilson hasn't been anywhere near as successful whilst being in charge of the scouting.
If we get relegated and have to hemorrhage jobs just hope Reed and Kruger are the first two out of the door.
I really don't understand football fans. Because we aren't doing well, blame Les and Ralph because our best players have left? blame the manager because the players sit back in the second half (yeah I'm sure that's what he tells them at half time) and get ready to boo and protest if we go a goal down to Brighton. Pretty sure that will help!
Did a quick translation and the last sentence is giving me a bit of hope. If I was a Spartak fan I wouldn't feel 100% reassured by the interview. - In one of the first days of the collection you asked not to ask questions about transfers. I'll ask a simple question: do you want to stay in Spartacus? "Of course, brother." Do I look bad in this T-shirt? Or do you want me to change the club? - No. - Have I ever said that I'm unhappy in Spartak, that I want to leave the team? - Never. - I read rumors that I was not so fond of here, so I began to practice badly. True, this was written. But I'm happy here. I have a contract until 2021. Rumors, Liverpool, such and such a club wants me ... It's fine that he wants, but I'm now in Spartacus. And nothing more to say. I do not know what the future will bring, but I think I have red and white colors.
I think it shows that Gao doesn't have the money to back this club! So the release clause is £30M, Spartak have no say in the matter, if Saints pay it? Yeah ok, perhaps it's more than we want to pay, but how many times, have other clubs overpaid us!
Fee was agreed though, they couldn't get a replacement. As buy out clauses don't mean much, they are a starting point. Kante had one which was triggered by Chelsea, but they ended up paying £10 million more. Same with Suarez and Arsenal.
I'm not arguing that our form this season is not relegation form. It is. I'm saying that true relegation form started this season, not the last 15 games under Puel. As many know I'm no puel apologist but relegation form started with MP2. Ive said before if he stays we are likely to go down, I still think that but would be happy to be proven wrong.
Posted in the transfer thread but it should go in here really. We really wanted Promes but can't bid as soon as the window opens that would be too easy
Well it seems Promes was plan B to Walcott. No reason why we couldn't have just bid after that fell through though. Wonder if we have a plan C or if we will just stick with what we have
