Now you know thats not true..........I've seen you climbing fences with your skirts round your ears!! Edit........Its ok I've called the ambulance.........
I wonder if the result will have any baring on a signing coming in. A win sure makes things look better, a defeat sure adds to the panic. Long night ahead for some back ground people.
Can't see this evenings result having any effect....far too late. The only effect I could even see is that the player signing might change his mind and even that's unlikely as he must have seen relegation is a possibility when you consider our league position.
Think we are going to need a few confusing Russian translations before the game tonight or it could be a bit late to bring Promes in.
Agree. I doubt a loss will encourage Kat and Gayo to get their checkbooks out and meet Spartak's demands. The board are like a captain, solomly going down with his ship. Stood on top deck, gaunt and noble, as water splashes around his feet.
Agreed. What would be more likely is a draconian release clause re relegation in his contract, enabling him to leave cheaply if we did fall. If another Prem team comes in this late he'd also be up for that I think if it means less risk of relegation. But lets face it it's really down to difficult Russians and prudent Les.
Sky sources understand Southampton are unlikely to sign Quincy Promes. Apparently Saints have offered the fee wanted by Spartak Moscow, but Spartak are struggling to replace Promes so are reluctant to let him leave
The Russian transfer deadline isn't until 22nd February, so they would have the money and the time to get a replacement in.
Southampton are not confident of completing a deal for Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes before the window closes, with any deal now more likely to be struck in the summer. The Russian club have rejected three bids for the 26-year-old Netherlands international, who BBC Sport understands has asked to leave Spartak during three separate meetings with the club president. The unsettled Promes also became embroiled in a training-ground fight this week. Should the deal falter, Southampton are unlikely to look elsewhere at this stage. From BBC deadline day tracker thing
It could be as straightforward as Spartak wanting the 30m up front and us only having 20m from Virgil available with Gao not being able to move any money out of China.
Isn’t their transfer window open until the middle of Feb?.....plenty of time to get a replacement #clutchatstraws
Yeah but Russian clubs traditionally find it hard to buy after today as European clubs can't replace so won't sell. I thought they had that Anderlecht player lined up anyway? Sounds to me like it is more likely Saints won't pay the asking price.
If there's a release clause isn't it there problem. I'm guessing we are not paying the release clause?
Even if it is their options are limited - clubs from countries where the window HAS closed are unlikely to sell them any quality players.
Can't see this one panning out. Saints don't do last minute deadline deals. Saints do though string us along.
Let’s just wait and see. Sky Sports know **** all about Southampton because they devote no actual resources to having any sort of proper handle on what is going on with us. Plenty of time to go...
On a bit of a side note do we think anyone else could join today? All the talk in the last week or so has been about Promes, but in the Telegraph it mentioned we were also looking at centre backs. Anyone think we might see a centre back join as well that has been kept quiet due to attention being on Promes?
Yeah, if we are meeting the release clause and the player wants to come to us then what is the problem?, Spartak can't legally stop him moving can they?
