Well at least this transfer has got us all sitting on the edge of our seats.
**** Jeremy Wilson, tonight I want to see him in a Saints shirt, new watch and an interview telling us he will **** off to Liverpool in two seasons time...
The watch sponsor is long gone.
Maybe that’s what’s holding up the deal.
We should get our resident pancake maker to get this over the line.
Well, we've already bid £25m so thats a yes.Trouble is, every time we break our transfer record, it’s only by the odd £1M. Do we really think we’re going from £19M to £25M plus? I like all the enthusiasm on here but just can’t see it. Unless Mr Goa is finally getting his cash out?
Is it 'really' a gamble? The player has performed very well in the Dutch National squad; has played in Champions League and won prestigious award in Russia as 'Player of Year' ~ so I suspect that that is not so much a gamble, as more the 'seeking of quality' to improve the Saints squad....... and fortunes! Not spending the money could prove very expensive, yes.
Theo would have been less of a gamble as he is a proven PL player. Buying a player making headlines in Russia is definitely a punt imo, but we are now in a position where we have to put some money down.
Maybe that’s what’s holding up the deal.

One day it will run dryI agree with you. Doesn't make it right though. I think the best thing that could happen to football in this country is for the TV gravy train to simply dry up.
Ed Rooney was the school principal in Ferris Bueller' s day off...I wouldn't trust his judgementA poster called “Ed Rooney” on Saintsweb has just posted
Signed, sealed and delivered” (music video)
He called the Austin signing and the posters there seen to trust him, even if it is out of pure hope and desperation.
The key thing for me is him wanting to come. And from what I am reading (which may be rubbish), it sounds like he does. That's a huge hurdle overcome.
So if it just comes down to agreeing a fee with Spartak, then that surely should be workable. Yes we might have to concede some ground, and go closer (possibly all the way to) to their valuation than ours. But we don't have too much choice, both in terms of time left in the window and position in the league. By all accounts, the odd million here or there cost us Toby. Then it cost us getting Puel out the door early on. It can't cost us again. Especially not in the current market.
A lot of talk about the offers and how much more we need to pay and we should just do it. All of it conjecture as nobody knows anything other than what they’ve read in the media.
Reading an afternoons posting on here is like reading a very long Chinese whisper.
We’ll know tomorrow if he has signed or not and then everyone can moan that the Board didn’t do it on January 1st, or moan that they didn’t offer the small amount of extra money.
I’m sure it is all just as simple as that.
I think we all know it's not " that simple" , but I'm pretty sure there would have been targets we have missed out on in the past purely because it has been " that simple " to just pay small amount of extra money and we haven't done so.
You can argue it both ways but in the long run the person who isn't willing to splash out will be the loser IMO with the way football is going, you'll just end up getting left behind.
