When you sum up what the man had going for him it's hard to understand how he could be so depressed to take his own life. Very scary indeed but I do agree with Smokey rather selfish...

You guys need to draw a line under this please. The thread is mourning someones passing and whatever the circumstances it is horrifyingly sad. Please do not turn this into a bun fight.

I'm not trying to argue either way stick, my opinion is for me and Chelsea has his. I respect other people's opinions. I just responded to been called simple minded and been basically told my opinion is wrong. Each to their own. End of the matter for me. I have no grievance towards Chelsea I've said my piece.

You don't know anything about me, about my family, about my life. And for you to pass judgement and imply I have a simple mindedness or a lack of understanding about depression, to me just highlights your ignorance more than anything. Consider that when people post on here that opinions will differ and that sometimes people speak from experience not just to be provocative. I'm not getting embroiled in a debate on here but I'm not going to sit back and be called simple minded because you have an opinion that's different to mine.

Once again, I didn't say anything to or about you badge I said in general the awareness of depression is low along with a lot of simple mindedness, as in the UK.

You mis read completely bro the only part i said for people was the " lets not turn this into a sour thread " e.g. a comment aimed so you didn't take it the wrong way and we didn't have a lengthy argument or debate over it, which ironically the exact opposite happened!

You didn't offend me Chelsea ive worked in a prison for the last 10 years I've got thicker skin than that. My reaction was because I read your post (incorrectly as it turns out) as coming across as arrogant, ignorant and dismissive. You've explained yourself since and I apologise for swearing at you and for taking you the wrong way.

STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE PASSING OF RICHARD WOOLLACOTT

I would like to thank everyone for their messages of support. The racing industry has shown a huge amount of compassion for Richard and us during this tragic time.

Richard was a much-loved husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was also a talented jockey and trainer who achieved many amazing things. Sadly, after battling with it for many years, he lost his life to mental illness.

While nothing will bring Richard back, I feel there is more there could, and should, be done to help others. I have therefore established an online fundraising site in aid of three important charities in Richard’s memory:

1. ‘mind’ who raise awareness of the serious issue of mental health and to encourage people to speak up

2. The Injured Jockeys Fund, a charity close to Richard’s heart, which supports his fellow riders and industry colleagues

3. The Devon Air Ambulance which provides urgent medical assistance to the people of Richard’s home county

Beer Goggles will run on Saturday (27 January) at Cheltenham Racecourse in memory of Richard. Whilst it will be a very emotional day for everybody, it is important that we celebrate all of Richard’s hard work and continue with his plan for this special horse. I’d welcome everyone to attend in support.

The Jockey Club and Great British Racing have been hugely supportive and will pay tribute to Richard throughout the raceday in aiding these fundraising efforts.

The minutes silence was pretty poorly observed at Cheltenham yesterday. I think you can put that down more to the “type” that British racing attracts these days rather than the circumstances of the poor mans demise.
