Actually I should thank him for his recent social media revelations so in hindsight I was a tad harsh given the gravity of such.
If that’s all you have for an example of an unwitting retort then frankly you’re wasting my time son.
Lesser talented sides do use defensive tactics admittedly. But plenty of talented sides with lots of ability play defensive. Real Madrid for example usually park the bus against Barcelona, and hit them on the counter, but that doesn't mean they are less talented, they just have strengths in different areas of the game. Let's not forget being good at defending is a talent, and a skill. I think the most talented sides are the sides that can do both well, I think our team in 07/08 are a great example of this, as is Chelsea's team in Mourinho's first stint. Both sides could take teams apart offensively, but both could park the bus and shut up shop when they needed to. Even as an attacking side you need to sometimes take a breather in a game, and take your foot of the gas abit as you can't play in top gear for 90 mins, and when this current Liverpool side has had to do that, like against Seville, and even City last week, they've shown they can't soak up pressure like a top side should be able to.
i'm not bothered by it. If that's how a team needs to play to get a result by good defending and organisation all the more to them. I was just pointing out they were bus parking thats all lol. Sweats for some reason didn't like people saying Swansea were parking the bus (whatever that means in his world). Hell Chelsea parked the bus to a CL trophy when we won it
Sometimes though bus parking is forced upon a side, for example it is almost impossible for any side to play attacking against Barcelona. Even Liverpool would look like a side parking the bus if they played them. When a side is so much better than another at passing and dribbling like Barcelona are, you can't help but park the bus, as you can't get the ball off them to get your team up the pitch. When I played Sunday league, we'd never go into games with the intention of parking the bus, but it would just happen if you came up against a side a lot better on the ball than your own. It's almost impossible to stop sometimes.
I remember Chelsea not parking the bus against Barca at Home and ripped them to pieces. Unfortunately Maureen parked the bus in the Nou Camp and they royally ****ed us.
You where still playing on the counter. Only time I've seen a side that where technically good enough to take Barcelona on, and not park the bus where Peps Bayern, and even they eventually got beat, as Messi just had acres of space.
The more I watch Messi the more I’m convinced he’s the best I’ve ever seen. They try anything and everything to try and stop him, but for 10 yrs now he’s been terrifying defenses. Be a long time before we see another like him. And what will Barca do when he retires?
I think in 2012 he was the best player of all time, when he got like 90 odd goals, he just used to destroy teams on his own. Had he had Neymar and Suarez with him then they'd have been beating everyone about 10-0 I think in recent years though, Messi's level has dropped down a little, and Ronaldo's has shot up. By anyone else's standards Messi is still playing to a ridiculous level, but I do think Ronaldo has deserved most of the recent Ballon Do'rs. I think in all honesty the 2 of them are probably the 2 best to ever play the game.
Looking forward to the Bristol City v Man City game tonight. Bristol only 1 goal down and have got it all to play for. I reckon the atmosphere there is going to be ****ing bonkers. Hopefully it will be enough to carry them through and dump Pep's billion dollar squad out of the comp. I reckon even @gas will be cheering them on tonight ?
Doesnt fit barca's style Real madrid is where kane will go if anywhere. What no Jurgen Klinsman? please log in to view this image @Spurlock
I hate to say but I’m wanting Man City. Just want anyone but Bristol City to win the cup to leave the European Places Open
I still rate him higher than Ronaldo. Maybe he doesn’t score as many, but he creates so much, and defenses are terrified of him. I’m old enough to remember Best, Cruyff, Pele, Maradona, etc...they were all great, great players. But the time alone that Messi has spent at the very top of the game and is still a major force to be reckoned with, makes him the best, IMO.
