Cologne had me worried for a while there...

What dubious records link Novaya Zemlya Island and Halifax?

Explosions? A famous munition ship collision in Halifax Nova Scotia and underground nuclear testing in Novaya Zemlya?

    All yours.:)

The 'dubious' record bit was that the Halifax explosion in 1917 was, and still is, the largest man-made, non-nuclear explosion ever - whereas the Novaya Zemplya explosion in 1961 was, and still is, the largest man-made, nuclear explosion ever.

Cheers BB. A great friend of mine was born and brought up in Halifax Nova Scotia so I knew about that. The nuclear testing I have to confess was supplied by Google!

Which native of Walsall put his honeymoon on a small boat to good use?

I believe that Jerome K. Jerome came originally from Walsall, so did he get the idea for 'Three men in a boat' whilst in a boat on honeymoon ?

He certainly did. Spent it on a small boat on the Thames. Later he wrote what I think is one of the funniest books I've read - the Hampton Court maze, the Stilton cheese, Uncle Podger hanging a picture, the German comic song etc - so over to you Cologne.

Cheers Theo. Sticking to a literary theme - which country has the highest number of authors per head of population. By that I mean the percentage of the population to have had books published ? Predictably they also have the highest number of bookshops per thousand people.

Very good guess Yorkie but not the Vatican. In the country I am thinking of one in ten people will become a published author at some time - according to present statistics.

That's the one BB. Iceland has more authors per head of population than any other country - if you are born there you have a 10% chance of publishing a book. As you say AK must have been asleep. Over to you.

Yes - the country’s 3 branches of Government are split between Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontein.

    Over to you.
