Coleman's pretty much point blank saying Rodwell could be playing if he wanted to but he doesn't. Think how long his 'injuries' have gone on for and how much it's cost us, and continues to do so.

Questionable attitude maybe but maybe he just isn't very good? He disappeared after leaving Everton to a top side then signed for a possibly rising side. Looked every bit a great signing on the day he signed. The rest, as they say, is history.

I spoke to a former pro footballer who worked for SAFC a while ago about him and kone and the attitude we see and he said a lot of it is confidence based. He reckoned Kone AND Rodwell had a great attitude in training and he used to see them train regularly (he worked for The club when Grayson was there). Both great with other lads around the club and the youth. Both look a shadow of that on the pitch. He said he thought Kone was a lot down to the £18m offer we turned down and he's now in a club struggling of the Championship with the crowd on his back constantly. I don't know what or how to look at it but I guess we all make massive assumptions from seeing them for an hour and a half on a Saturday. If you were planning on trying your hardest, tried at first then 20000 people got on your back after you made one mistake how would you feel? I'm not saying the fans are to blame at all but it can't be easy being on that side even with ££££ in the bank

Coleman's seeing him in training and he says that if he wants to play then he'll find a way to play. That's real talk and no less than somebody on 70K a week should expect. Any sympathy for Rodwell at this point really sticks in my throat.

I understand the concept of a contract but it should read like a normal contract of employment....you don't perform and your out. This guy isn't performing and his manager has now gone public stating that. Can he play.....yes...does he want to? The answer appears to be no....sack the f*cker and take our chances at an unfair dismissal tribunal....with this lad and the Alvarez fiasco....no wonder we are financially f*cked....

Sympathy may be a little bit of an overstatement. Not sure that's what I meant by that but I'm trying to explain my thoughts on him. I don't have sympathy for him. Christ he earns more in a month than I will in 8 years!! Just it might not be as crystal clear as everyone thinks. I'm not saying I know anything more than the next person just stuff you hear when talking to people. He may just be crap! Injuries may have taken their toll. Or he may have a ****ty attitude. One thing for certain, he just doesn't look very good!!!!

I used to think something similar but I trust Coleman to speak the truth and with barely any reading between the lines needed I'm hearing that Rodwell simply isn't trying hard enough.

Even if he was getting paid peanuts that's unacceptable. He really needs to **** off from our club, if he just sits on the bench for the next year and a half I'm going to be livid with him.

I've been beating the drum about his confidence being knocked by the crowd for a while now. I've been a big supporter of him because, on a technical level, he's probably the best midfielder we have. When other people have been calling him a waste of space I've questioned whether anxiety or stress from the crowd have affected him. But now Coleman appears to be publicly questioning his attitude, and especially now that he's been offered the opportunity to leave but won't go without a payoff, I have to assume that its not nerves or confidence that's holding him back.

This. His wages might be the club's business, but how hard he tries is his.

tbf he looks like a bargain compared to Keiron Dyer's stint at West Ham:

Played 30 games in 4 years, zero goals, on £100k a week plus £424k a season for image rights and £100k a year loyalty fees and god knows what else, ended up costing them £450k per match for doing **** all.

At the end of the day, all clubs have had parasites, Bogarde at Chelsea, Marcelino with us etc. You just need to get rid, but the problem is he clearly isn't gonna get 70k a week anywhere else and might just do a Bogarde and see his contract out; yes the fans will view him as the world's biggest ****, but if you're gonna get £5m+, then being regarded as a **** is a pretty small sacrifice.

    Just give him his wages.
Send him home he is sick.
Let him rot and wash our hands of him.
    Don’t let him go.

Ohh and if we pay him off
He will get a job with another club
    Do not pay him off

:emoticon-0148-yes:That's right Marcus I think emotional issues predominate with all footballers and confidence is massive. But as professionals they need to rise above criticism of their play and instead focus and play for their teammates and fans. I am not saying it's easy but top players need the whole package to be successful - mental strength is crucial.
