I cannot believe that anyone would complain about Martin and Naismith exiting this window. Well, only those who have a complaint default mode. Jerome is slightly different, I believe there is still a moderate championship player in there, but one rapidly drawing near the end of effective use.

No, but we were talking about Jerome and his link to Derby.

We are a striker light as it is, are we now going to go out and buy 2 strikers in a January transfer window?! Seems a big ask.

I can't see any untruth. When the Club referred to not having to sell they were referring to the financial position of the Club but if a player insists on moving, as with Liverpool, then the Club has to sell. Equally, if the Coach wants to bring in new players and already has a full squad then any Club has to move players on to make way for the incomings. What annoyed me was that the players mentioned as surplus to requirements were the same players that everybody was moaning about yet the Club were still being slated. Personally I would be surprised if Martin was sent out on loan in view of the other roles he is developing at the Club but who knows? You can come to Nice and buy me a Kwak or a Pastis anytime you like.

Spot on 1950. It's not a case of untruths being told but one of reality biting. No one wanted Pritchard to leave, but he wanted to leave and DF wants to continue reshaping the squad as any new manager would. As 1950 says, players have to move on for that to happen and Pritchard leaving provides money for better quality players in other positions. Wildschut's loan will involve a fee as well as a saving in wages with a possible permanent deal at the end of the year. IMO, the right decisions have been made without running up any debt.

Loaning out and selling players is only the right decision if they are replaced with similar or better.

So, Naismith scores 2 goals for the U23 side. I wonder if DF has him in mind as a replacement for Pritchard? Naismith might want to stay if DF suggests that he might take over the Pritchard role. I am not advocating that he should stay but this is a possibility. Depends also if Naismith has made up his mind to leave.

Very true, DD, which is why I'll judge this window when it's over.

DF has said that he'd be happy for Naismith to stay. I thought he did a good job playing WR before his injury and would be happy for him to stay. It'd be strange to play him in the U23s if a move is pending.

Calm down dear, nothing has 'slammed shut' yet so there's plenty of time to snap up a few 'lads to gissa hand' without putting too much strain on our war chest <ok>

Good point RIverEnd. His rumoured exit seems to have gone quiet so perhaps we might get a rejuvenated Naismith at least until the end of the season? I only hope that if he is given a chance to take over from Pritchard then he gives the fans a determined display.

One way or another, if Naismith wants to play football he needs to put in a good shift which ever team he represents us in. I'd be surprised if we hadn't let a couple of scouts in for the supposed interested Scots teams. That said SN did say in that article that no club' have spoken to him, so for now I'll keep my excitement at him leaving on ice.
Perhaps foolishly I think if his heads right? his body is finally right? then at least til the end of the season he could be a useful wide option.

    Bah!

If Naismith plays and gets another hat trick at Chelsea then we should consider playing him for the rest of the season .

No way, that will be his one good game per season, waste of time playing him again. as long as he sucks, we can continue to hope the good one is to come.

    Bah!
