Wulfs have apparently offered €34m for Andre Silva. This is what we’re up against in the Championship now.

Not really... Wolves are extremely confident they'll gain promotion and it would be hard to argue otherwise. It seems they're simply doing their business early. Bit of a gamble I guess but they look nailed on to me. In that regard spending PL transfer fee's now doesnt look so bad.

Great move for them if true and as an outsider looking in things look really good for Wolves fans, they're buying young, highly talented players that will only increase in value.

Not really what? Do you mean this isn’t what we’re up against?

If we were in their position we wouldn’t spend this amount so of course this is what we’re competing against.

Wolves are the exception that proves the rule, they're going up and are already in Premier League mode, it's not indicative of Championship spending at all.

To be honest, although some of Wolves' spending has been crazy, it really hasn't been that bad. Neves was a bargain at £15m, they've got an option on Bonatini for £5m too. They've brought in a fair few expensive players, but all of which are young and they'll likely be able to sell most for a profit.

The position they're in, effectively gives them 2 windows to build for the PL. It's a real luxury and wouldn't surprise me if they bring in a couple of really good players

Or Clucas, or Robertson, or Maguire...[/QUOT
Anyone who thinks we shouldn't be looking for promising lower league players is off his rocker.

I’ve never said that. I think it’s what we should be doing but the right players. The massive grudge I have against it all is why don’t we have the scouting infrastructure to pull out the Marriotts of this world before they go anywhere. Look at Brentford’s model and Peterborough’s. Now Danny Hylton is 28 had a big amount of clubs in the lower leagues. Billy Kee is 27 and had a huge amount of clubs. They both aren’t Jamie Vardy, Sam Clucas etc etc. If they are cheap and keep us up then fine go for it but they are highly unlikely to be as good as what we have. Look at Preston’s signings, young hungry talents with a point to prove. We sign U23s who have been spoon fed, injury prone and hardly played first team football.
