Couldn't find highlights so here is a brief match report

A superb header by Georginio Wijnaldum secured victory for second-placed Liverpool against third-placed Manchester City.

The Reds led after eight minutes when Adam Lallana broke on the left and crossed for Dutchman Wijnaldum, whose clinical header found the corner.

In a finely-balanced encounter, Pep Guardiola's City began to exert more influence after the interval.

David Silva and Raheem Sterling had chances, while Liverpool carried a constant threat on the counterattack.

City could not find a way through meaning Jurgen Klopp’s side took a fourth straight win, moving four points clear of City and six behind leaders Chelsea

Well we enter a new Coutinho-less era with a visit from the PL Champions elect who seem almost unstoppable over the full 90 mins. Whilst these games always seem likely to be goal fests last season the 2 meetings only produced 3 goals in total as both manager took a more pragmatic approach than normal.
The away fixture this season suggested both teams are more likely to play to their reputation than last season however i think it highly possible we will play a defensive (by our standards) MF set up & hope Salah ,Mane & Firm can do the damage without much consistent support.

Possible Team

Migs
Gomez Matip VVD Robbo
AOC Can Gini
Salah Firm Mane

All this assumes Firm will be available as if he isn't i'm not sure what we do for CF or even if we will have one.

Reactions: organic red
bit early for this imo with the Firmgate issue & Coutinho transfer talk but Dribs & King Kenny moaned it was late so blame them :emoticon-0141-whew:
Not to early really mate, huge game. A Citeh supporting friend is fearful we will end their unbeaten run on Sunday.......

Two best teams in the league?......yeah, probably.............certainly for entertainment

If we are on it I think we can get something from the game. I would take a draw right now though

I am interested to see how we will approach our set pieces. Ox's deliveries were absolutely brilliant. I'd actually go for Lovren at RCB and VVD at LCB. Both those should trouble Citeh on set pieces.

Start with Lovren, though, and Lfc will have trouble itself on set pieces.

And open play
And out of play
And half time

Lovren to score 3 OGs during the half time break?

Lovren always seems happier playing RCB than left. Still expect Matip to start particularly as we know Lovren has been carrying an injury.

Stop De Bruyne and we have a shot, he controls everything and is usually the pass before the assist or the assist himself. He's been at a different level this season and he will be the one who causes problems so we must deal with him. Other than that go at them and make them deal with our front players.

Take a draw right now but I think we have more chance of winning at Anfield on Sunday than we will in the future as Klopp is assembling a very good side and with the addition of Keita,a decent keeper & a centre mid will be a formidable outfit
City side picks itself

Ederson
Walker Stones Otamendi Delph
Fernandinho
Sterling DeBruyne Silva Sane
Aguero

Hopefully Raheem ( or Velma as he’s affectionately known) won’t let the abuse from the stands affect him as he has previously. He’s now used to it as he gets dogs abuse at most grounds for some reason.
Glad to see Coutino not playing as he always played well against us but I think it’s significant in that his transfer to Barcelona is not the disaster it once would’ve been as Liverpool have plenty of options for it not to be a hindrance.
How Delph and Otamendi get on against Salah would be the key problem for us to overcome as I don’t think we will be overrun and outfought there as in previous visits

Should be a cracker
Easily the best 2 sides in the league

Coutinho also loves messing with Walker, he's murdered him on a few occasions. <laugh>

He could have played one more game and gone at the end of the month. <grr>

Even if Coutinho is still with us he is going to miss this. Must win game 2:1 first loss in the league to city. Gini is going
to score he has not score for some time
