Yeah but 100mil on 250k a week as some suggested is a huge risk... I want Lemar so I'd be happy signing him but to throw that much at him it has to work. Is he THAT good?
Think I’d rather Mahrez than Lemar. Cheaper and already proven in the league. I haven’t seen enough of Lemar to know just how good he is, which doesn’t help either really.
Sorry for being a kill joy but I cannot summon any enthusiasm for this thread: Here is a player idolised by his fans, his team mates and appreciated and indulged by his manager. All Klopp had asked him was to at least finish the season he had started, help us get that 4th place, do a good CL and perhaps win the FA cup. That surely is not too much to ask for a player who still had 4 years left on his contract and who we would allow to go in the summer. Surely it has to be a 2 way street. He couldn't even give LFC that and instead indulged Barcelona in their need to calm their fans and prop up their politician management. He dumped us without hesitation and any thoughts for our needs for this season. It wouldn't have cost him or his new club any thing. None of the big departures (Ronaldo, Bale, Torres, Suarez, Alonso, Masch) occurred in mid season. A player has to show a modicum of loyalty and respect for the club he plays for. Insisting to leave mid season stinks to high heavens.
I’m not sure why we’re not after a top striker instead, we still don’t have one. Firmino can then sit in #10 seat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
But was Mane or Salah a worker before we signed him? Maybe he’s just not been asked to do that part of the game but Klopp and the scouts see he is possible with bit of training. To be honest, being able to press isn’t difficult to train as long as the player has half a footballing brain. All you’re asking them to do is track their runners going back and push forward into them when the ball is lost. A few months and should be able to pick up that side of the game easily.
Not the best of endings for him, I wish he hadn't pulled the injury nonsense but I hope the fans forgive him and we'll see him back at the club at some point.
True he was utter ****, a total spent force by the time we sold and hasn't done anything much since. He will always have that cloud over him for they way he left, massive sulk and leaving on the last day. I too am not fond of players leaving mid season, I always feel better if a player does it in the summer. Has a feeling of completion and not leaving a job half done, who knows what we could have achieved with Couts still in the team, best to see how things stand at the end of the season.
He also wanted to leave will before he actually did. Same with Mascherano. Both have sub-par performance until they got their moves. Not everyone as the right attitude like Suarez, C.Ronaldo, etc
Dont think Klopp wants a striker. Got rid of Sturridge and origi, ings isn’t wanted. He wants that front 3 to be very flexible and Firm imo Has been out most important player this year in that role. His hold up play when ball is fed into him is brilliant and helps set up the counter. Movement is brilliant, not the quickest but intelligent runs when he’s the top man. We dont really need a striker who is gonna sit and be a number 9 and stay Central and it cuts out the space that Salah runs into. The thing with Firm is he drifts as that central striker and the cbs follow and allows Salah space to make those runs in from wide knowing he’ll have an isolated cb
