I suppose Ox and potentially Mahrez ...

I wasn't happy with us singning AOC but he has trimmed down and is working hard even if the craft isn't always there. I don't see him ever being good enough to hold down a starting position but he has to be ahead of Lallana. Mahrez would be daft, we have players for that position and we need to improve in other areas so to spend that money on a bench player would be daft.

He played well for about 3 months last season and then went missing for the rest of the season.

Agree he’s rusty but he isn’t much better than what we saw last night.

In that three months he was at RCM. Majority of the rest was further forward covering for Mane, he's not a winger.

He was pants yesterday, but tbf he's had a long time off injured and will take a bit of game time to get back up to speed.

The effort was there but his touch was terrible and that is down to lack of games. No problem with him I just feel we have better options now and that will get even better once Keita arrives.

Top post, during the game I was horrified by our midfield and that feeling is not likely to change for a long time!

Don't be blinded by a midfield dealing with a gang of thugs and a ref that doesn't know the rules

I can see Lallana being moved on, once we have Keita in 1 of the midfield has to go

Keita
Wijnaldum
Coutinho/replacement
AOC
Milner
Lallana

We don't need 6 players for 2 slots. Milner may well move on as well but he's good to have around imo as cover.

2 slots? We play three in midfield mate. 6 into 3 is perfect squad setup imo

Definitely. Thought he was going to murder Karius by the end of the game <laugh>
That was good to see. It shows that he has expectations of those around him and will make them at least try to live up to them. Definitely captain material, though let's give him a few more games before we get carried away.
Karius looked very uncertain, I thought. No big mistakes, but didn't seem at all confident. I'm assuming that people saw something in him in order to buy him in the first place but I've no idea what.

I loved him shouting at Karius. I used to do that several times a game, keepers should be dominating that last 20-25yrds, not sitting back hoping the defence deal with it!

I wasn't including the deeper player so didn't mention Hendo/Can

Just thought you excluded them because one is leaving and the other isn't worth counting.

I think Klopp will end up playing Keita in the deeper role

I thought he was more box to box than holding. I was expecting the starters to be...

His hair?

I thought you were saying he's not even good enough to be a squad option. We suffered last season for being too thin on the ground, we need players of his quality to be able to come in when necessary.
Keita is still an unknown quantity for me - I really haven't the time to watch much of the foreign leagues and players don't always travel well.

A couple of times the ball was closer to Virgil, but he was clearly expecting Karius to be off his line and coming for it.
A keeper can see everything in front of him - he should be on his toes and really he should be the one screaming at the defenders to leave it to him.
It is an organisation thing - obviously they don't both want to be going for the same ball if an attacker is lurking - so the fact that someone has very definite ideas as to how they should organise, and is willing to take control, should be a good thing.

No he wasn’t?? He was playing in the same position and role, and never rediscovered that form.

Now, if he ever does rediscover that form, then we’re onto a winner.

I think Lallana being moved on for a fair fee would be the right timing come the Summer, no point hanging on to him if so many are ahead of him.

He was on the RW whilst Mane was away in January. Every time Mane wasn't avalanche it was Lallana that got moved forward. I know this because I moaned about it every time it happened!

Lallana is **** at RW. He's very effective at RCM.
