Permanent additions are off the agenda this month as Chris Coleman closes in on his first loan signing. Coleman hopes to bring in a handful of short-term additions but has no budget to pay fees for players. That will change if key assets are moved on, with Lamine Kone and Dider Ndong two players expected to leave if suitable bids arrive. However, Coleman has warned that even if that happens, he will likely only get a percentage of that money to spend. He said: "If we do get a sum of money, I am not sitting here thinking I can go and spend it in this area or that area. "I may get a slice of it, but any money that came in like that would be going elsewhere - although I am sure we will see a little bit of it. "I’m positive the chairman will see that in certain situations we need some help. "But we are certainly not looking at a case where if we got £10m for a player, we could go out and spend £10m - it will be nothing like that."

Nothing we haven't seen before. It was the same the last transfer window.

Short is asset stripping and will take his cut out of any sales leaving a few quid for Coleman.

Why the hell did Chris Coleman take this job? You've got to question his sanity as well!!

Coleman has his reputation at the highest it was likely to be in his career, I reckon he'd have had a good shout for a struggling Premiership side if he'd wanted (Swansea, Stoke surely?). The fact he came did suggest to me that he'd been promised something - not looking that way now though!

Short really is stupid when it comes to football, what is the club going to be worth if you go down? Even if you don't how is next season goign to be any better than this one with his current policy? I agreed with Bri at the start of the season that the boys would struggle at first but I thought that by January things would be on the mend and Short would put in enough to show roots of recuperation. I'm worried. Still don't think you'll go down but I'm worried about next season either way.

He said in his first interview that he wouldn't have money to spend unless he made the money in January. He's also reiterated that fact (he hasn't said that he will not make permanent additions. I saw 2 interviews where he's said that they're currently concentrating on loan deals which we can complete quickly, rather than permanent deals, but permanent deals will be available if the money becomes available).

That said, with an owner like Ellis Short, he'll probably pocket the cash to try to get some of it back! I guess that we'll find out in time.

The Echo reports that Coleman was well aware of the financial situation when he signed, and is working within the constraints currently trying to bring in loan deals. If we sell our assets (Kone/N,Dong ) only a small amount of that money would be reinvested in the squad, so that means that apart from reducing the wage bill, little may be gained by their sale, as far as the playing staff is concerned. Food for thought.

If the loanees improve you and keep you up, in the short term it doesn’t matter. Things need to change next season, but I highly doubt that they will. I feel sorry for you lot. ES is even more incompetent (or less caring) than the fat man!

Don’t think anyone sane would argue otherwise. Fat man is still **** and I hope he disappears but there are no words to describe your overlord (except for asset stripper!)

Hope this is a horrible rumor but a mate just said the player that’s close is colback!!!! I’d be ****ing raging if he comes back like. Told him he’s talking out his arse but we need some players in ASAP getting a bit daft now like.
He’d be ok in the Championship, but much like the blue passport, it’s all a bit of a backwards step

Much as I can't stand the guy, we need someone with his versatility. He also has a good fitness record which is most welcome.

The way things are we can't afford to be picky about who signs, so I would reluctantly accept his return.

That makes so much sense but still made me feel sick
