As much as I enjoy vegetarian food , curry needs the fat from meat to give it it's rich flavour and consistency.
One of my old mates used to get a big pan of lamb byriani brought down when he was at Uni with big chunks of lamb cooked on the bone with all the marrow melting into the stock and boiled eggs.
Probably one of the nicest things I have ever eaten.

Secret to a good ruby is cooking the spices properly to impart flavour, rather than just add chilli to make it hot

Fresh spices roasted and ground is the way to go

Kenny **** up with your weird German fixation you don't even live there mate , The Germans may be very good at making motorcars and electrical appliances but they are not accredited as the best proprietors of Indian food in the World .

Solely my favourite of the few 'Indians' on Munich. Tend not to 'do' restaurants at home so, apart from Sainsbury's ready meals, cannot comment further.

    "weird fixation" I accept!

On a serious note I used to visit about six/seven times a year while in remunerated employment. This practice started in the late 1970's and ceased in 2010 when I gave up such employment however I still manage two or three trips a year. Family circumstances (elderly parent in care home) means my 'bravery' not currently being tested in moving my place of residence.

I have never actually visited Germany so I'm being pretty ignorant it's probably better than England.
Pretty sure loads of middle Eastern and African food outlets will be springing up in Germany to cater for the next generation of Drs Engineers and university professors that Angie invited in.

Turkish noshers in Germany easily as numerous as Chinese and Indian outlets in the UK!

Two of my UK born 'friends' in another forum who live in Berlin and Munich have directly opposite views on 'Mutti's' welcome (?) in 2015.

Not that much different from the UK in my experience. A lot less expensive to get into the football and horse racing however grub'n'booze from outlets on a par with the UK; the same gap in prices between local 'boozers' and uptown bars. Same breadth of political opinion, same regional (state - lander) loyalties and the same differing opinions on social affairs between those resident in large cities/metropolitan areas and those who live in the rural areas.

The biggest urban myth I have discovered from travelling in Europe, particularly Germany, is the belief that the teenagers and those in their twenties and thirties do not get pished at the weekends. Have seen many 'kids' in German cities getting tanked up al fresco on cheap booze bought from 'Kiosks' before visiting clubs from 23.00 onwards. We tend to compare 'our' worst (?) behaviour with the ideal of a large multi generational family dinner in, say, Italy. Those who promote such a view have to compare 'like' with 'like'.

'Sense and Sensibility' now f****n' finished for 2018!

    Keep on truckin'
