I'd like to see the midfield stay the same but give the young ones a go. They're at an age where, if their good enough, should be playing regularly

I don’t really understand this, we moan on year after year about our pathetic cup record, then people suggest playing inexperienced players and second stringers in order to prepare for the clash against the mighty Burton Albion. Doubtless if we lose against MK Dons, we will then moan about the selection.

If Holloway doesn’t play his best available team (some may be injured or knackered, fine, and it would be good to play a youngster or two if they merit the chance, but this would be the same for a league match) he’d better let the fans know in advance. It’s our last chance for a bit of fun this season. I’d love to get a big PL team at Loftus Road for the next round, even if the result is embarrassing.

I agree especially as the Burton game isn't for another week anyway, so I think keeping the lads ticking over by playing a game Saturday would be a bigger concern for most than giving them a rest, though 1 or 2 may need one.

I agree. We should play our strongest possible team, we should for nearly every match. I wonder whether he will play Smyth on Sat or say he needs a rest after 1 game.

Why would Ollie say he needs a rest? I don't remember him making excuses for not picking players, he just "freshens it up". Smyth went off with an injury Monday so he may not be fit anyway.

I think Ollie may start quite conservatively. With Freeman as no10 and add another midfielder (Manning, Hall, cousins) to Scowen and Luongo....
I do not think we will see the two no10s in the Burton match...I think that ploy will be instigated in the home matches at first...

I am only guessing obviously... But I do not think Ollie is as tombola as the rest of you.

He has a plan he is trying to implement... Not saying it is a good plan or a winning plan...but he has an Ollie plan...

Hall isn't a midfielder. He doesn't look quick enough to play there, now at any rate.

Why does Ollie do a lot of things that are bizarre or questionable? I really do think he stumbled upon this two number 10's formation by pure accident. As for freshening things up a bit could you explain in a bit more detail as it sounds a bit vague.

No Hall isn't but he was played (quite successfully) in the Scowen role before he got injured

As I remember it, age perhaps is getting to that, Hall was playing CB in a back 3, and just moving forward into midfield when we had the ball, and dropping back again to CB as soon as we lost it. He played some nice passes, but I don't recall him covering across the park in front of the defence like Scowen does as a defensive midfielder. I'm not sure Hall has the speed/stamina in him to do that even when fit, but especially not now when so far he hasn't looked to be fully fit after his long injury absence.

I was quoting Ollie from memory, vague as well. Making changes to give the ones who are looking jaded a break, or a kick up the R's maybe.

Oh ok. I believe that Ollie should not change a thing for this game and that includes smithies. MK Dons are no mugs, we are certainly no Man city or Spurs with a squad of reserves who could still play well in the league, we aren't exactly playing brilliant. We should try win this game with the same team against Cardiff as confidence will be running high and if we win keep it the same against Burton. That would be in my eyes a sign of stability.

I think he should play his strongest xl. Take a look at this unwanted stat in a season of unwanted stats ...

I’m for keeping as near as possible to the winning team. No wholesale changes.
Success and continuity. These players are for playing Saturday to Saturday.
Only reason for any change should be injury obviously. Get a result at MK and move on to do the same at Burton.

And we wouldn’t want Luongo cup tied either

I think he has warned us already Stan...Ollie has said he wants to play two no10s behind a striker, and Birch has said Luongo is tired. and we all expect Lumely to replace Smithies.

We must rest Luongo....and possibly Baptiste and Freeman....I would think Hall needs more game time as does Lynch.

Ollie has said he wants two no10s behind a striker, so that will be two of the youngsters ( I really do not expect Smyth to start against Burton...so expect him to be one of them)
I think the team will be of middling strength...I really think he will try to win the match, and the bench will be strong, incase (when) we go behind

Hall was given the nickname Biscuits during this period wasn't he?

Here's Ollie's pre-match presser and it looks like he's going to make changes ...

In the pictures it says "Smyth is looking forward to his first taste of FA Cup action".

I now think we will have 3 or 4 changes..... Smithies (won't even be on bench), Luongo, Freeman and one of the CBs

So Lumley, Hall/Lynch, Manning, Eze will be in
