They are not discussion points over a pint though, it's rubbish decisions that cost teams points. That's the whole essence of the game, 3 points..referees can't referee and they costing teams points and points are everything.

This is a Sport and it has major flaws in its refereeing. Bloke down the pub might have to find something else to chat about.

Like tits and favourite rum.

So today could see the mighty Liverpool open up a 7 point gap on spurs in the race for champions league football next season, I for one would be very sad to Pile on even more pressure for them to pick up maximum points over the next 2 games but that's what you have to do in football, there's no room for nearly rans unfortunately, failure to win the next 2 will no doubt see them languishing in mid table for the remainder of the season. They will have my sympathies

Not confident myself so a win would be a huge bonus.

Klopp going with our B team. Shame but understandable

FFS - you can have your hands behind your back stupid ass <doh>

how difficult is that?????

Exactly what most defenders do in that situation. Chambers thought he'd run in with his arms in front of him. Pen for me.

Point is though that you shouldn't have to have your hands behind your back, hence the deliberate handball rule.

Take yesterday's example, Chambers was running back to track Gibbs, his arms were in a natural position for his body shape. If he'd run into the box with his arms behind his back it's likely he'd have slipped over when he stopped to turn and face Gibbs.

Some physics you are talking about there. Keeping your hands behind makes you fall down?

Didn't see the game, so not sure what you are talking about.

Watch the incident. Chambers is running back into the box to track Gibbs. Gibbs stops and then fires the ball at point blank range at Chambers. If Chambers was running with his arms behind his back and then stopped on the spot, it's likely he wouldn't have kept his balance. Hence his arms were in a natural position relative to his body. It was ball to hand (or forearm) and didn't make any difference to the flight of the ball.

What is it with all this "arms in natural position" bollocks, Pix?

Did the player gain an unfair advantage by blocking the ball with his arm?

Yes, he did.

Hence, the ref was justified in awarding the penalty.

I would have given it.

End of.

Sorry, mate.

Yes, he did.

How exactly, seeing as it would have hit his chest and gone for a corner instead of hitting his arm and going for a corner ?

seen it now. That was very harsh and not by the book from Dean. But what can you expect??

Have you seen Ivan defending these things? His hands will be tied behind his backside. No way Callum is going to fall down there had he followed Ivan or any good defender.

That is why I want to scrap that intent vs no intent bollocks.

The only thing with scrapping the intent/no intent rule is that you will get players deliberately trying to hit the ball at defenders arms to win a pen.
