Is this the Christmas matches against Northampton back in the 50's? We played them at home on Christmas Day and lost 2-4, then played them away on Boxing Day and won 4-1.
Hmm - the only thing I can find about Christmas fixtures against Walsall that may be unique is that they drew 2-2 on consecutive days, then on the day after Watford also drew 2-2 with Fulham.
yes good enough: ON Christmas Day and Boxing Day 1930 the club drew 2-2 with Walsall both at home and away. Watford fielded the same side in both games, and they were the only two occasions on which the eleven ever played together. over to you BB,,,,,,
Which famous leader was humiliated by an eleven year old girl after losing a battle against her army, and having to strip off and swim to save his life?
I think BC stands for before the conker... The eleven year old girl had a name not dissimilar to a North London football team.
I guess it must be Roman, was it Paulanus and Boudica ? I am puzzled by this because did anyone actually conquer the whole of Britain ? Or do you mean England ?
So before William the C., a foreigner, and beaten by an 11 year old girl I think you are right Cologne although it could be Boudica and Suetonius? Cant find the detail yet... Later:... no it is Paulinus....
It is Roman - and they did conquer most of Britain. It's generally thought that Hadrian's Wall was the extent of the Roman reach, but that's not the case. The fishing village I live in was formerly a Roman port, my house is actually built on the site of the Roman fort that protected the port. Five miles from here there are the remains of an amphitheatre, where prisoners and lions reputedly provided local entertainment - and around ten miles away is a hill thought by some researchers to be the site of the battle of Mons Graupius. But no, the answer isn't Paulanus - far more famous. And his defeat actually happened in Egypt....
