Ridiculous price for someone who's had one very good season and a few average ones. Feel he's been hugely overhyped by the media resulting in this fee. I really hope he comes in and proves everyone what a 'world class' CB he is, but I just don't see him being much more than another Lovren; needs a full defensive team around him to look good. To that end, we're still missing a solid LB, a DM and a keeper.
True. I'm just sick of this top 4 and be happy bullshit. Man up and go and win the league for the fans innit
Let's see him play, if he improves the defence so we easily get top 4 it will go a long way to covering his fee.
Maybe this explains why he was rubbish in the game against us.... I get nervous around big transfers because our track record has generally been poor, though it has improved recently, so here's hoping he continues that trend. Needs to up his fitness and attitude from what he's shown so far this season though. And we still don't really know how much the injury has affected him.
Lots of hate for LFC on the Saints board, it's their owners they should hate on, they didn't need the money and didn't have to sell him to us. Yes they've made an extra £15m on the reported /rumoured £60m touted last summer, but all the "we won't sell", "we won't let him go to Liverpool" bluster was bullshit and a smokescreen to give their fans a false sense of security.
And another CB to be honest. Hopefully the idea is to improve those positions at some point as well, though I think the system and Klopp's training means we'll never have the best defence in the league.
that'd be nice right enough but just breaking the top 6 into a top 4 again will be a big enough achievement. for anyone to break city they will have to beat every other prem side and make this league like Spain when Guardiola was there with barca. The first step is stopping rot at the back. The second step is being more clinical to stop the leaking of points to West Brom and evertons. an awful lot to do there.
