£3.5 million had swans fans scratching their heads with gasps of "HOW MUCH"........he is or was a fantastic championship player for watford and their style of football but so far he has made no impression with our style, i hope he does come good but i wont hold my breath.....we should never have paid that much for a unproven player for this level....that is stupid business that i hope for our sake he can step up and do the job we pay him to do,,,,,so far he warrants a very generous 4/10
Dai what a hypocrite you are. Last season you were complaining because we got Taylor from "no league football" and we should be more ambitious. Now you complain we've spent £3m on a player. You can't win.
tampon where have i said that we should break the bank for UNPROVEN players .. do you like to make up stories for your own ends to suit....please remember what i post in a accurate and truthful way. if you cant get it right dont bother as you make a fool of yourself....that is twice now you have totally got it wrong...
Dai we have a whole team of unproven players, but they will gain experience as time goes on, practically every promoted side is in the same situation, and they all take risks on players making the grade, it's the way clubs operate. We have taken a calculated risk with him, IMO a far better risk than Routledge who has been utterly pants at this level, and lita who hasn't exactly set the world alight, I have far more concerns with them!
lita has not had much of a chance yet and has done better than danny even with the little time on the pitch and as for routledge then try reading the match reports and not just one sports writer try a few and you will get a better overall picture and they say he was one of our better players.
Dai you are giving the benefit of the doubt to these two, but nothing for graham Routledge ain't scored at this level at all, despite playing loads of games here and lita has scored what 10 goals or so in this league ? They have been massive fails, and I for one didn't want either at our club, but I will support them as they are swans players now, shame you don't have the same consideration for Graham !
Sometimes I think you come up with this rubbish just to cause arguments. Graham has got 1 in 6 games, in a new team, in a new league and hasn't played terribly let you call for him to be put in the reserves. Ok how about Sinclair? 0 in 4 ?, used to the team/tactics, was our top goal scorer last season, in a league where he has played before (albeit not much) and was shocking compared to Dyer and Routledge Saturday so if he plays against Shrewsbury and doesn't score you going to suggest he goes to the reserves a bit aswell?? Of course not. I could understand the worry if we were 12 games in and he had played a majority of the games and still hasn't scored but we 2 games in and one was against Man C, a result that looks even more promising for us given the 3-0 spanking Man U just gave Spurs!!!
we can bitch and we can moan about all the players, truth is it means nothing as we dont pick the team but Vorm is an excellent buy
Listen guys think we need to calm down, we have had a very nervy start to the Prem, to say the least, and while Graham is no Borini, hell he needs time to make the step up, he's got to be good for 15 goals at this level in my view, so think we need to have this debate in November! Oh and Dai, as usual your off your head again................... please log in to view this image
I understand some of the views on this thread and the origional post is a fair one IMO. People will always ask questions when a striker doesnt score goals but Danny graham needs time , so do alot of our other players. There are some like tate and monk that i think will not reach the standard(if only for lack of pace, which is vital in this league) and some like ash, caulker, taylor, rangel etc that will grow into it in the next month or so. I think its a bit unfair to judge Danny G and wayne R just yet , its way too early . they need to be able to understand our system first and they need to build up an understanding . its frustrating i know but the likes of Borini only come along once in a while (a player that will slot straight into a system ) mostly players need time to adapt. Graham and routledge have done well so far considering they are learning our system and learning it at a higher level , it will get better in the coming weeks . Im going to throw this out there. Borini will be back on loan in the January transfer window
Gooner in peace I'm suprised that you didn't get Borini. You would have thought that his links to Brendan Rodgers and chelsea would have given you first option on him. He was brilliant for you last season, and is exactly the sort of player who could help you survive in his league. About DG, i'm not so sure about him. It's early days yet, but to be honest, he's not setting the world alight. Well done signing Michel Vorm by the way. Signing an international caliber keeper in your first season as a PL team is about as big a coup as i can think of. Look forward to playing against you guys in a few matches.
Norway, it's something I've been hoping for since the day he left. My major concern is that, if we are struggling badly by January, he might opt out even if he's available. No one plays in a relegation battle by choice. Anyone know how he's been doing at Parma of late?
cowboys- Unfortunatly for us the borini deal was already done BEFORE he came to us on loan , the boy himself was apparently really disapointed that he didnt wait but at the time he was probably just thinking of his longterm future. He suited our style of play and of course knowing brenden helped him settle quickly. It transpired in the local press that borinis head was down in training and rodgers pulled him to find out what the problem was it was then he was told about the contract agreement with parma. If he doesnt get off to a good start out there i fully expect him to push a loan deal and come back to the swans . He made no secret that he prefers the football in the prem league to that of Italy , he also speaks highly of the swans and its fans . I just have a feeling this deal will happen, of course if he is banging them in over there then we can forget him coming back, but im not sure after playing in England for so long he will enjoy the slower more tactical italian style . ivor-dont think he has scored for parma in pre season , i dont think their season has started yet either. Borini on loan here in january. The club has developed a habit of going for ex players and former heros the last few seasons so i fully expect borini to be on the agenda bookmark this thread
Norway - completely agree with your post. I was never trying to have a go at Danny Graham just wanted a good discussion - Result! I n fact I even have a bet on that DG will get the golden boot! A waste of 50p some may say From what ive seen he does need more time to bed in but im confident he will come good and get at least 10 - 15 goals. We all know he can finish he just needs a little more composure and confidence in front of goal, which will come! Your right about Borini, players like him do only come around once in a while. I suppose alot of people, myself included, just expected DG to work like Borini did straight away. I remember the Forest game last season when he made his debut for us, I'm not sure about anyone else but from the first five minutes of that game you could tell he was a Gem! And didnt he do well!! Hope your dream of him coming back in Jan on loan comes to fruition, imagine if DG was scoring and we had Borini back! I would already be looking at place in europe maybe
0 goals in 2 games in the Prem. Hardly a drought and if you get 15 goals from him this year he is an absolute bargain for 3.5 mill. 15 goals in 36 games is hardly prolific but I will take it every day. what did we expect .... a goal a game average - hardly!
its funny how fans from other clubs agree with me that danny has not set the world alight since he as been here.. blind faith by the look of it by most fans........
It's not "blind faith" Dai, it's called "faith". We've played 2 games. One of those games was against a squad that probably cost upwards of 200 million pound to assemble. Give the guy a chance, why are you so eager for him to fail?
i want him to show why we paid £3.5 million for him and start to show we have not made a huge mistake.....so far tonight he is poor again and i really want the guy to show what he can do.....
Judging a player by his price tag is a quick way to disappoint yourself. Also, sadly, some players don't fit at some clubs... does that mean they're worth nothing? Look at Forlan at Man Utd. **** here, went to Spain and became one of the top strikers in the country, and rightly so. However, he didn't score at all for Man Utd for god knows how long... by that standard he is a poor player too. Maybe I've gone off on a tangent there, but even so. This is his third game for a new club, in a new, higher league where we're all finding out feet. Give the guys a chance.
