I get the idea, but the personnel of the club got turned upside down after Cortese left and we continued to improve. The squad has been left weak in numbers in different positions in the last few years, but imo the only major mistake by Reed has been the appointment of Pellegrino.
Not replacing Pelle and Mane imo was one mistake Hiring Puel was another Not backing him was another Appointing Pellergino is looking like another. Sorry I have a little bee in my bonnet about Les Reed at least Cortese had the foresight and eye for real genuine talent in Pochettino. Please don’t say he never did this or that,he’s really got TH really firing and will end up doing great things imo. Sorry again but Les Reed really needs to step up to the mark before Championship football is on our doorstep again.
Lol Beefy nope he’s not, mind passed away 2 years ago,but I’d take him as my dad. It’s only my opinion, some will have theirs, some will differ, some won’t,but I’m not great believer in what Reed is doing. Sorry
Sorry to here that man, I was just joking. I too think Reed needs to go, but no way do I want Cortese back
Hey no problem,I never took anything by it. I know Cortese had problems but Reed is really doing my head in.
there are no guarantees in recruitment and especially in Football. I often read the opinion that we never replaced Mane, but we purchased Boufal & Redmond who play in his position. Neither have reached the Mane levels, but I think it would be churlish to not recognize the base talent in either one
Reed has also overseen the hiring of Koeman, and our two highest finishes in the PL and Europa League campaigns. Not been perfect but him and Cortese have both been successful in their own right.
Am I not right in thinking reed and Cortese did different jobs? Cortese was chairman, here when reed was appointed director of football? Replaced by that puppet Krueger. Those nostalging about Cortese should be just as annoyed at his successor, who appears to do nothing.
I don't disagree with most of what you say here but Reed was director of football when Poch was recruited so may have had some input in that.
Just had a catch up on the VVD transfer saga.......apparently Man city are close to a deal( source Telegraph) but Liverpool have made the biggest offer (source independent )... really really hope it's City we do business with.
Pellegrino says that Austin will be out for some time as injury worse than expected. I think we all saw that coming....definitely need a striker in January now.
4-6 weeks I was told....but he wil have another scan next week......have we anyone from the academy who could step up?
If we have any principles left at all we would put any offers from a Liverpool straight in the shredder. We will probably drive Virgil to Anfield with a packed lunch.
