Providing the Brighton game goes without injury or Richardson scoring a hat-trick playing in the left back position, I would like a more positive approach from the main man this saturday against Swansea.

    1. Switch Bardo to left back, the lad won player of the season in this position last year and has proved already he is better in that position than anyone in our squad. I think as he is playing on the left, it allows him to unleash the old Bardsley thunderbolt, which we seen last season. He tried one against the ****ing fat, ugly, black & white butt plugs (incase any mags are reading) last saturday but because he was cutting in from the right it went agonisingly wide (15m actually).

    2. Richardson cant defend well or play the left back position well, however this does not make him a bad player, remember his goal burst last season when given a bit of a forward role? Well I wouldnt overlook this at all so I am putting him on the right of a front 3 but allow him to interchange flanks with the legend that is Sessegnon. This will provide Gyan with more support and also give a much greater goal threat to the Swansea goal.

    3. Granted this is not the most defensively sound formations but no disrespect to Swansea but we are not playing Chelsea or Man U so we need to be attacking and positive to acheive a result. Also I feel that the back 4 will be protected by Cattermole and because our fullbacks are not very adventurous I dont think we would be left exposed at the back with the 3 upfront.

    4. Gardner to replace Colback to provide another goal threat and I read a good point on another article regarding over playing Henderson because he had a few decent games when he was first introduced into the side but instead of taking him out we left him in and maybe caused his dips in form etc. I wouldnt want this to happen to Colback and I would hope Bruce's managerial skills would portray this message across to Colback so he doesnt feel down about being dropped.

    5. Larsson needs to be on the right to deliver his absolute quality balls into the box.

    -----------------Mignolet-----------------

    O'shea-----Ferdinand-----Brown----Bardsley

    Larsson---------Cattermole---------Gardner

    Richardson---------Gyan---------Sessegnon

    Prediction - Swansea 0 - 2 Sunderland

First win of the season and back on track, FTM

It's confusing oxford - I thought that but then read p[roperly and saw that the OP is talking about Saturday's game - Bardsley's ban is for tonight only

Not sure about Ricco any more IBWT
He has been given so many chances by me and failed at every hurdle (except for maybe half a dozen games) although his best position is undoubtedly behind the striker - sessegnon is way better at this than he is

Well everyone and his dog in Ireland were raving about McClean. How old is he? Good enough, old enough. Get him in the side.
Rest (get him out of the F*****g team) Richardson.

If I was Brucie I would go with...

    ------------------- Mignolet -------------------

    Bardsley -- Ferdinand ----- Brown ------- O'Shea

    Larsson -- Cattermole ---- Colback -- Sessegnon

    ------------ Ji ------------ Gyan --------------

    subs

Bramble, Richardson, Westwood, Vaughan, Gardner, Elmohamady, Wickham

Want to see Gardner in but think it would be unfair to drop Colback at the minute and I wouldn't take out Catts

    Larsson -- Cattermole ---- Gardner -- Sessegnon

    ------------ Ji ------------ Gyan --------------

    That'd be my pick..........but doubt it'll be Bruce's

That's if Bardo is suspended for todays game....

I agree with the op. I have said a few times that playing both Richardson and Sessegnon behind Gyan has the potential to cause untold problems with their pace and trickery. Especially in a game like the one on Saturday against an inexperienced (at this level) defence. If we sit back and try to play on the counter with Gyan on his tod again we will come unstuck. Even if we go for it and end up on the wrong side of a 3-2 or 4-3 scoreline we can say at least we gave it a go as oppose to what i can see being a scruffy 1-0 defeat.

I still beleive in Ricco, at present he looks like an attacker playing in defence, which is what he is but Bruce cant see past this. Loosing the ball in the opponents penalty area is much better than loosing it in our own but Ricco is far more of a threat going forward as last season proved so lets play him up top or left wing and put Bardsely back at left back.

Its so frustrating because you just know Bruce wont do it.

Actually, InBruceWeTrust, i really like your team. I'd go with it. Richardson's best game for Sunderland IMO was his game on the right wing against Chelsea. He passed the ball properly and everything! Midfield looks excellent to me. I'm sold. Unfortunately we've no chance of Bruce agreeing.
