I can see why the Spuds like pooch so much given the **** they’ve had in charge at that club over the last couple of decades.

What I don’t understand is how much praise they lavish on Daniel Levy. Sure he manages to get good money for the players he sells, but ultimately he’s a selling chairman who has pumped significant money into the squad, hired and fired something like 12 different managers and won **** all apart form a couple of league cups.

Not that I’m complaining of course :)
We were mid table and mediocre when Levy took over. We are now in the mix for top four more often than not, have one of the best training facilities in the country and are nearing completion on an amazing new stadium. Not sure how anyone could have done much better to be honest. City have but they had access to about a billion more pounds than us....

Sensible arguments, lads.

Sadly, they don’t fit the ‘Pede wum agenda.

So you're a bit less mediocre and still haven't won anything. Like I said, I'm not complaining about you lot praising Levy <ok>

This just feels like when a fat bird makes comments about her being fat before anyone else does.

Kinda <laugh>

I see what you’re getting at Sucky ( I was trying to make a serious post for onace, ya twat,)

But truth is that our turnover and resources are far less than those we’ve been competing with at the top of the table. So the fact that we’ve been in the mix the last 2-3 seasons is an over achievement for a club our size.

It’s not so much as overachieving but underachieving ambitionaly. For my money Joe & Co have missed the bus! The stadium should have been put back two years while top draw signings should have been made in your weak areas after narrowly losing out to Leicester by 10 points.

A bit more skill and backbone might have seen better returns last year and put you on a more even keel with the top teams but this is all academic as you’re languishing in seventh place playing at a stadium you’ve failed largely to come to grips with.

This is more a lack of vision for future profit I’d imagine but hey some things never change.

I’d disagree.

Like all clubs we’ve made good signings and bad ones. We currently have a very talented young side, but we don’t have the squad depth. A few injuries to key players and we suffer more than our main rivals.

Playing at Wembley was always going to a big challenge. Coming from the close, intimate atmosphere of WHL it’s a big change.

We’re currently in 7th with a mere 3 pts separating us from 4th.

The idea of the new stadium is, of course, to increase revenues and be more competitive financially with our rivals.

I should point out that we don’t all benefit from a rich daddy owners who give us £1bln+ loans interest free!...

The fact remains that given the vast disparity in income streams we have outperformed.

Exactly! Some are in it for the money and some for the love of the game.

Nah they won’t, anybody who goes into owning a football club for profit is either an idiot or a fantasist.

I’d have to look at it more closely, but the Glazers paid around £500-550 mill for Utd. Now reckoned to be worth £2.5bln.

And Abramovich has made money just in the value of Stamford Bridge alone.
