Well it fairly obvious that this group of players is capable of better. I mean, pretty much the same group of players was better last season under a different manager.
Might be stretching it to expect 10 goals from Long, but Gabbi and Austin should both be on more than 10 goals a season really. Boufal is certainly capable of 10, and this time last year Redmond certainly looked it.
My point was that we have goalscorers. But we have consistently failed to either provide them with service, or get them into dangerous areas, because we can't control games - not in our opponents half anyway

All this talk of goals, how many teams outside the top 6 have a few players scoring 10 or more goals?
Presumably we aspire to being in the top 6, or at least knocking on the door. We should be, because if you don't aim upwards you can pretty quickly find yourself looking down.
Agreed, but I’m just pointing out that hardly any teams have the mercurial 10 goal a season midfielder to go with 2 x 15 goal strikers. When you do get that. They get snapped up pretty damn quickly.
It’s like the “we only need a 25 goal a season striker”
This squad of players is talented and should be capable of playing better football, but the thing I think fans overlook is that we aren’t alone in that situation. Every PL squad has talent and ours isn’t much/any better than the majority of the others. We are pretty average for a PL side and in poor form which is why we are slipping down the table
Like James Beattie you mean? Or, er, Rickie Lambert?
I think we have the 8-9th best squad in the league, on paper obviously.
Beattie still available, or was that 14 years ago..... how many did Rickie get in the Prem?
Dunno. Prem's overrated anyway.
Sooner we are in the championship the better.
I miss those defeats away to Rochdale and Tranmere
Losing 2-0 at home to Rochdale still lingers in the memory.
But if it's Tranmere-related nightmares we're talking about, think FA Cup...
My thinking is, the top 4-5 need to break away and form their Super league. Let's get back to the old days, where it's a level playing field, with Leeds, Sheff Weds, Forest, Etc. I would also like to see a salary cap brought in.Crazy statement. I understand the like of that league but I don’t get this view at all.
