looks a typical Cheltenham minefield today! going for Western Ryder in the first, Attest in the 1.20, Mysteree in the 2.30 and Champers on Ice in the last.
Battered cod, chipped potatoes and peas (not mushy…don’t fret regular readers I haven’t gone all ‘‘ecky thump’ Northern). 10/10. The toast was ‘Her Majesty, Mrs May and the taxpayers’. What did we think of Hails Turner’s 3 month ban by the way?!? My view has always been that racing professionals who transgress get everything they deserve…unless they can blame it on the vet, of course!
She didn't exactly break any rules though did she. She wasn't riding at the time. Her error was in announcing she had retired but not actually handing in her licence. She made a genuine error and lets face it hardly been smashing the bookies up. This is why she was given the bare minimum sentence.
Here you go Sir Barney - time for a caption competition. My proposal is that Daryl Jacob has just said to Mr Henderson ".............. and Munir and Soude won't send Top Notch to the King George because they have Bristol de Mai"
Has Mr Henderson just said, ‘This was my expression the moment before you and Might Bite jumped the last at Kempton Park on St Stephen’s Day ‘16!’
Southfield Theatre looks overpriced here. Ran like a drain in that Marathon of a race at Sandown, but I won't hold that against him - tailed off so far it wouldn't have taken too much out of him anyway.
I think Shanroe would have won that but for the error at the second last. Pretty much lost all momentum and finished well (for a stayer) One to note I feel.
Chancing Anteros ew in the last. I'd love Champers on Ice to win, but he's one of too many of my cliff horses!
Do you think they are running Champers On Ice over hurdles again (2nd time this term) to protect his chase mark for the GN?!? Maybe not but I wouldn't rule anything out with those connections!
