Looks like Apple's Shakira should be out at the weekend - she is entered at both Cheltenham and Donny <ok>

(Very slow day in the office today so checking out the weekend racing already)

Good luck with Squire chaps <ok>

Last time I went in a bookies (a Ladbrokes shop in Sheffield) they had a betting window and a pay-out window both manned (or should I say womaned) and they were very on-the-ball regarding races about to be off. I guess service levels vary on an individual to individual basis (a polite way of saying some of them can't be arsed <laugh>)

Here’s a question for you. If she remains sound and in good form which heat does she go for at the Cheltenham Festival?!? And there is no correct answer because I don’t know, the owner doesn’t know, the owners racing manager doesn’t know and the trainer doesn’t know.

Probably the most logical is ‘The Triumph’ but ultimately it will all depend on what other ‘cards’ the owner has to play in each possible race. Ante-post racing and the Cheltenham Festival just aren’t compatible anymore, I’m afraid.

See, I persevere with shops because:

    a. having betting apps on my phone would be potentially lethal
    b. All of my accounts are joint with the missus so, if I want to actually see my winnings, it needs to be cash.

I'd be prepared to go out on a limb here and say she is Triumph-bound if she remains sound and progresses (here's hoping). I think both the owner and trainer are of the old school and will go for the most prestigeous races if they think they have a capable horse. I know JP takes a scatter-gun approach at many races but if you gave him the straight choice between mares novice hurdle or the Triumph Hurdle he would point you to the Friday contest. But of course, depending what happens elsewhere, he might go Supreme with the talented filly - I guess a 4YO filly would get quite a weight concession in that heat - I think fillies get 7lbs in the Triumph, not sure what weight a 4YO filly would carry in the Supreme? I just checked and Binocular got 8lbs from Captain Cee Bee so theoretically Apple's Shakira could get 8lbs age and 7lbs sex allowance so a whopping 15lbs..

I haven't really had a bad experience in the shops. There tends to be a bit of a gentlemens agreement if you are looking to get a horse/dog on close to the off with folk letting you in front. I generally only use William HIll as it's very close to me though so may vary on the bookie aswell.

I know it's not the most insightful tip but I spoke with a guy who's allegedly in the know with hendos yard and it seems that they think this horse is exceptional with a capital e ... 4/1 for Chelts - I'm on !!

Very surrised to get 16s just on dragon dream . The dragon has raced at c/d 5 times winning 3 times and placing once .
The above 4 races were at class 6 the losing race was a class 4 ! I am more than happy to ignore the latter form on class and tracks .
