Good luck with The Squire, me old loves. Let's hope he returns, to the fray, refreshed and in good health.

Must say at lovely Lingers tomorrow there is one that catches my eye – PAST MASTER (1.30). He’s been off the bally track for some 805 days and hasn’t run since he was a 2YO but when he did run in a pair of maidens it was well, well above average events at Sandown and Salisbury and he finished very close, or beat, animals who have gone onto win Pattern races or be rated in the 90s and 100s. Tomorrow sees he run in a far weaker maiden heat and meet, it would appear, nothing of that class. The fact that connections of the calibre of Mr Candy (and he is also a part owner so it’s not just a case of him being the hired help) are preserving with this one also speaks volumes and I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Past Master oblige tomorrow before, if remaining sound, going onto better things.

His pedigree also inspires confidence as the dam was a winner for Sir Henry and she’s already produced winners and a filly placed at Listed level. Also Past Master wasn’t cheap costing £210,000 back in ’14.

The obvious negatives are that the old boy has clearly had his problems, hence the time off, and you do have to take his fitness on trust – don’t worry I’m not going to deploy that terrible forum cliché and announce, ‘I’ve been told…’.

However, all in all I think Past Master a most intriguing runner tomorrow and look forward to seeing how those bookie chappies react re his reappearance.

Good luck, crew.

Best of luck with Squire stick , hope he's back to his old self , you obviously got a line on the opposition and with normal luck in running must have a good chance !

The re arranged fixture at wolves puzzles me slightly , Rouge Nuage runs in the same race he was due to run today , there was money for him today , yet tommorow he's on the drift , jimmy quinn , who seems to be the only one who wins on him was due today , yet tom eaves is booked tommorow, where is the Quinn ??? !!!

Your Wolves selection now attracting a bit of support Rudey, as is Stick's Squire. Good luck with them both gents. Maybe a couple of singles and an ew double.

Prescott seems to have a live one over at Lingfield Park, Kohinoor Diamond. In from 4s to 3s and first time blinkers. Also money for Amanda Perret's Mr Bossy Boots on the same card, 16s into 10s which was tipped up on here last time out. Ew L15 on these 2 plus Squire and Rouge Nuage. Good luck everyone.

Very different story in the old betting market re Past Master and Squire this morn. The latter is being well supported but I must confess I did not expect to see quotes of 14/1 re the former. Given his decent form in 2YO maidens and lineage you would have expected him to be much, much. much shorter to win this type of event today. Past Master is either the bet of the month at those odds or clearly not off or ‘orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrf’ today as a toff might say. Understandable I suppose given his long absence. Maybe today then is a mere ‘sighter’.

A Nicholls Ditcheat Thoroughbred horse on the flat, on the AW, at Lingfield??
But here it is, Volpone Jelois, 1.00.
Interesting to see what happens there.

Not much else of interest, though I may have a go with Ambitious Boy in the 2.45 at Wolverhampton.

Good Luck with Squire - I'll not jinx your chances by putting my pennies that way :emoticon-0148-yes:

And Good Luck to all looking for early Christmas presents.

I actually thought this horse was a ‘certainty’ when he ran in an apprentice’s race, ridden by the daughter, at Doncaster’s opening Flat meet. Ran respectably that day and in another ran on the level since. Looks the sort of horse who if everything falls right and he finally gets his act together could run up sequences both in the NH sphere and on the Flat as he’s very reasonably treated in both codes.

Indeed, SBC, my initial surprise is misplaced, on closer inspection; a nice horse with useful form in both codes.
Interesting, then ....
