This is not the thread for it Ski. But the forum can be about anything that we want, and the politics thread is a good place to spread your wings away from QPR, which, let’s face it, is a pretty limited and hugely repetitive subject.

I like seeing what other fans have to say about my club and having my little shout as well, and on broader football and sporting subjects, but I wouldn’t be on here if it wasn’t for the wildly OT threads.

The game against Birmingham is increasingly huge. But thankfully this league seems to have a tediously infinite number of games, plenty of time to turn it round and press for automatic promotion.

    Sometime this century.

Credit to him as well and I mean that
Anyone of us on here is capable of posting up something with golden potential... it’s great and I respect it. What I don’t like is a collective anti tone that snowballs. I sincerely believe we should stick and ride out our current poor form and certainly not throw away great servants that have built our history and fond memories of QPR

I simply do not like that especially now that the club has the very foundations in place to recover from a dreadful period for the club

We failed big time in a spectacular way

Yet the punters still want a quick fix ... modern football maybe?

Well done Ted for mentioning Roofe
He plays for Leeds United however

I can guarantee one thing and that is there will be many more Roofes coming in from all over Europe into the English game and none of us will know them on here.

Hi Beth, I agree with you. So sorry for posting a new boring QPR thread for the team for this Saturday. :)

Roofe was at Oxford when Ted mentioned him. Don't be so presumptuous as to think people aren't aware of potential players. That's what scouting systems are for. A good player isnt hard to spot, a great player stands out even more.

Unfortunately, we can afford neither good or great at the moment, only promise and potential who then get played out of position and flounder.

Maybe but that does have to take in account that any given player has an absolute position. I concede that even now we are incomplete as a finished team but it’s at least a family. Picking new faces from la la land or even new regimes is just as risky imo.
In fact it’s dream city central old farts me included yet some are dreaming up new ideas and haven’t the patience it seems to see a long term plan through.

David Wheeler from Exeter what is he ?
A wide player? A striker? A wing back? Maybe a central midfielder .
My point apart in goal he could in fact play anywhere for QPR if he proves himself

A young hungry player from the lower leagues

Where I think the minor problem is?
    Composure up front that’s it

Some of them don't even look like they've played in those positions in training though. Young players need guidance to fulfill their potential, and I just don't think Ollie & Birch are the right people to be doing this. I'm not in the Ollie out brigade, but I do think he needs help with his tactics and coaching (his motivational skills are not in question).

    Can’t argue with that.
But what players has Holloway improved during this tenure? None that springs to mind. Promise and potential will need coach(es) with ability to bring out that promise and potential. Bit of a major problem, if that is our strategy (which it allegedly is).

There are clearly 2 players who have developed under Ollie''s Management this season. Robinson was a left back. He's now also one of our best CB''s. Pawel was a right winger. Now he's doing well as a right wing back or RB.

Have to totally disagree with you there mate. robinson has always had a lot of potential and is only just getting back to full fitness. He has always thought of himself as a centre back. As for Pawel, this lad will most likely be going to the world cup as a winger yet it was only a couple of weeks ago that cousins was keeping out of a right back position. Holloway has been very poor in his handling of pawel this season.

Robinson likes being a CB but he played LB with his previous League Clubs I believe. There's much Ollie does I don't follow, like his use of Cousins. But despite this both Robinson and Pawel are now doing well in positions they weren't used in before.

Hard to agree with your post Os. I was talking about improving players through coaching- not throwing them into positions and crossing your fingers behind your back. Robinson has spent most of his time injured, so I can’t see where the development has come from Holloway. Pawel, as has been pointed out, has been treated shabbily - oh and he’s only played in recent game, that’s hardly coaching again - Holloway needed him there because of injuries.

On the counter side... where has been the development of the promising youngsters like Furlong, Shodipo, Petrasso, Kakay, Hamaleinen (all in the squad); improvement players brought to the club as promising additions like Goss, Wszolek (in his winger role), Cousins, Sylla, NgBakato (I won’t add Wheeler or Bright-Samuel as they’ve only been here a short time, so only fair). Why hasn’t Washington kicked on from when he was brought in?
Not saying you could get them all right, but you would definitely expect to see a number of successes from that list!!

Sorry to put all my different questions to your two (unjustified?) choices Os.

You asked in an earlier post what players Holloway had improved during his tenure. The 2 I gave you have improved in that they are now accomplished in different positions. However it was done. It's good for our team but possibly not what Pawel wanted to get him to the World Cup! I question the abilities of the coaching staff too. Washington has never looked a Championship striker to me, but I'm not qualified to know whether or not he can be coached into one. Maybe you are? It looks like a job and half to me.

:emoticon-0148-yes: I think Washington was always someone who would need development to be a better forward- see spaces, make space and develop an understanding with forwards and wingers (read Andy Sintons interesting interview and how he worked with Les Ferdinand so well); but we also need to deliver reasonable crosses/passes with invention and creativeness.
Unfortunately our teams have, as Col says, tombola selections: inconsistent pairings; different sub-teams week in, month out. How many times have we read where consistent teams have used the fewest players - I know injuries effect this at times, but most people would hate having to do their job successfully when being moved into different teams every week.

Conor has also always needed development in how to get past an opponent, pass, cross, tackle, and shoot.
