After yesterday's bizarre episode with sea storm in the bumper at ludlow fingers crossed for a big change of luck for stick and foxtrot racing with Jenny's surprise today - 9/4 at time of posting -,joint fav with the pipe horse ... lay on macduff !!

Chelmsford 7.00. The fav, Bowerman (10/11) should win this but has a 246 day absence to overcome. So I would be more inclined to side with Mr Bossy Boots ew at 12/1. Btn 6l in a Class 2 lto but was squeezed against the rail, unable to recover and eased right off. Runs today in a Class 3, fit, and seemingly on a recovery mission. Decent pedigree too, by Teofilo out of a Warning mare

All the best with your mare Stick. A small ew for me on Karl Marx @ 33s in the lucky last at Leicester. Well weighted on his best form over this trip and handles easy ground. Good luck all.

But my big bet today is my home town of Paisley getting the UK City of Culture award. Has moved into favourite this week and narrowed further today from 7/4 to 6/4.

It doesn't mean as much to the other towns involved and Paisley has thrown the kitchen sink at it - renaming the football stadium, opening a second museum, pledging to build all sorts of arts hubs and stuff.

Good luck stick, I missed out on Jenny last time and she won so it's only fair to assume my money would weigh her down so I'll leave her alone for you again today and hopefully she brings home the winners cheque again for you today mate ;)

It appears my City of Culture odds were out of date - just had a look and Coventry has shrank to 6/5 which tells its own story - I'll still put some sentimental money on Paisley but I'd disregard my nod now - no way one of them shortens that much without reason.
