My own little world
Once again media, pundits, journalists, 'experts', even some of us have put NUFC in the relegation candidates category.

Even though we have only played 2 games, I think it is clear to see for anyone who knows anything about football, NUFC will not be going down this year (as the team stands). We also have a new striker and full back to look forward too, to make us even stronger.

Lets just look at which teams are definitely not as good as us:

Swansea
QPR
Norwich
Wigan
Blackburn
Sunderland (that feels nice)

Teams you could argue aren't as good as us:

Wolves
West Brom
Stoke
Bolton

Teams that are not looking exactly impressive and could have an average season:

Everton
Fulham
Aston Villa

The top 6 is very much the top 6 as far as I'm concerned, but that 7th place is well and truly up for grabs.

This isn't a knee jerk reaction to our relative short success, if anything the rest of the premier league hasn't exactly been impressive.

Get a quality striker in and aim for 7th. If we finish just short, not a bad season is it.

Howay The Lads.

P.S. all of the media people predicting 18th again for us....GFY.

:D

This bin dipper lad in the pub bet me £50 we'd get relegated <laugh>

He also bet me £20 Carroll would score more goals than Saurez <laugh>

Easy Money...............................

Love the optimism. I would personally be happy with 17th again this season and a good cup run! However I think we have enough, as long as we sign a LB and ST, too finish top 10!

****ing hell. We're 2 games in and done well and lo and behold the doom merchants are changing their tune. <doh>

As I have already explained, I am no doom merchant. My tune is not being changed, its being formed from what i'm seeing. Neither am I an optimist or pessimist. I call it the way it is.

We'll see where we really are come after 6-8 games. But from what I have seen already, relegation is not an issue.

Was 2 weeks ago though, others of us have faith in our team. Very reactionary response to a couple of decent results.

What was 2 weeks ago? The fact I may have criticised the fact we havent bought a striker, or a left back before we sold JE, or deciding to offer Barton a free transfer, or Pardew likes to talk rubbish??!! I still think all of those things. No tunes being changed at my end.

Tiote, Barton, Coloccini, Cabaye, Ben Arfa and co are all top quality players. Simpson, S Taylor and Krul have improved markedly. Then there's players like Jonas, Obertan, Ba and so on who could comfortably slot into any mid-table team. We haven't even seen Marveaux either who had a cracking game against Gateshead (scored one and set up two).

If we bring in another quality left back (Cissokho please) and a good striker, and also help Ba to find his feet (very early days yet for him) we could do very well this season. This is before we even have Ben Arfa back who is basically to us as Sessegnon is to Sunderland. An absolute key player, and we didn't even need him over the past two games to get 4 points.

personally i think blackburn are doomed. they're owners are even more clueless than our and they have a no mark manager and a team full of average players. wigna are another side that i think would be really in the sshit without martinez.

thats before we even get into talking about the newly promoted sides.

i can see us finishing comfortably mid table if we can keep everybody fit and happy. be happy with the same position as last year since we're ina transitional season with a squad overhaul underway.

I air your sentiment about being toted as relegation candidates but it is to early to judge teams.

Before a ball was kicked though I looked at other team in the league after seeing the so called pundits expert opinion.
We have only let go 3 first team players Nolan, Enrique & Routledge (who was on loan half of last season) brought in 5 players 4 which are first team players.

Then you look at teams like Wigan who sold Charlie, Everton no money to spend, Blackburn who aren't really spending or improving IMO. This is without even considering the teams that have come up.

Swansea - new boys to the league, never been here before but they like to play as we know froma couple season back.
QPR - can see them struggling
Norwich - not sure promoted 2 season in a row could be to much to fast. but to early to know

If stoke stay in Europe they could find themselves struggling to cope.

Lots of ifs and buts but I can't see the logic or justification to have us down as relegation.

On a seperate note, I think Arsenal might drop out of the top 4 possible out of the top 6 this season if Nasri does go.
To many players leaving and nobody really replacing them.

Need to keep Barton. Need a quality striker, who knows who we will bring in. I hope its not Maiga, we can do better than that. New LB is almost certain. Get Ben Arfa back. Stay clear of big injuries. Should be a half decent season............in an NUFC rollercoaster type way!
