To be fair I think we could sign 1000 young Rickie Lamberts, stick them all up front and our midfielders still wouldn't manage to pick any of them out.

Not a problem, Rickie started in midfield. He could do that job too.

Still, at least when Davis plays well, Saints play well...

0 shots on target is unacceptable against any team in the league.

As we have been all season, we were far too deep and were simply not able to provide support to any of the attacking players. We have the defensive personnel to play a lot more courageously, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Austin needs a run of games to get up to speed. Austin is more then good enough once he is up and running, as proven last season.

Every time we announce the team for a U23 match, the first thing I do is see if Austin is playing. And he never is. I don't get it.

Too deep to support the strikers, but not so deep to actually provide cover to the defense. It's quite a setup.

Huddersfield are just starting to take a fair few spankings. Hull have twice started very well in the PL, only to fall down the table very horribly. I think Burnley did too, first time around.

They've got City and Arsenal next, too.

Still think Hudders and Brighton will take two of the 3 spots.

Then the last one between Swans/Palace a couple others maybe.

Just back from an evening picnic in the desert with the family: purposely did not follow what went on; cannot say l am surprised we failed to score again. Not surprised either that none on target either.

This season really has fallen off the cliff. Hopefully by the seasons end there will be three teams worse than us. The problem then will be retaining what quality we have.

Work tomorrow; time for an early night me thinks.

Want to bet on that? He is out of shape and is more into horses these days

He showed with his 6 goals in 15 games last season that he is good enough. Some players need to play 2-3 games from the start to get a feel for the game. Was always confident Austin would score when we played and for most of our 1-0 wins he did.

Brighton won't go down if Hughton is still their manager IMO.

I think they'll go through a long period of struggling for goals, espescially when injuries etc. start to kick in.

He took Norwich down with a similar level of squad.
