Hate to say it but I think it’s a pretty decent appointment. Exceeded my expectations massively in terms of who they could have got. I would be relatively happy if I was waking up to this news tomorrow if I were a mackem. I still hope they go a whole year without winning at home cos that would be ****ing hilarious and unparalleled!!

He frowns a lot and talks a good talk so people think he's a good manager but he's a bit of a fraud and has a pretty mediocre managerial record with a career win ratio of 34%.

    For comparison,

    Simon Grayson = 42%
    David Moyes = 43%
    Sam Allardyce = 39%
    Dick Advocaat = 54%
    Gus Poyet = 42%
    Paolo Di Canio = 53%
    Martin O'Neill = 51%

Colman did well with Wales but he had Bale.

He’s done nowt much as a club manager, that’s why clubs like Palace, Saints, Everton etc haven’t been after him as he is clearly not deemed good enough.

He could indeed do a job for the Mackems at their level though, time will tell. His last stint down there was for coventry where he guided them to 19th and their (then) lowest position in 45 years.

Apparently he has quadrupled his salary from Wales which should set alarm bells ringing on Wearside.

Looks like Ellis has literally handed him what was going to be their transfer budget.

Good luck coming to him and the Mackems... hopefully they will not hound out their tenth manager in a row......

I think his record is ok. He was decent with Fulham, but struggled once Tiganas team disbanded. He was doing ok when he bolted at Sociedad. Coventry was a disaster obviously. He's took basket case after basket case. Sunderland falls into that category. He must have the worst advisor of all time.

He has a good reputation in the press but I have never been impressed with what he’s done. Still better than what I thought Makems would get but irritates me when he seems incapable of looking at an interviewer when being asked questions or when answering them but he’s not the only manager or player like that.

How many bites of the cherry do the mackems need\deserve before they finally get it right...if ever? In most other 'businesses' they'd have gone bust. Ten managers in nine years is shocking.

What with the mackem proclivity for getting rid of their managers, I wonder how long it will be before Coleman gets 'dusted'?

The average length of games in charge for the past nine managers (who were in charge for more than ten games) is about 37.

That should take Coleman to the end of this season, in which they will get relegated, and the first few games of next year in Division One. They will have a poor start to next season and he will be fired.

And so the cycle will go on...

Only two home games before they go a whole 365 days without a home win

Three home games for the calendar year....

**** sake. Celebrating this appointment as if it's the messiah. He's worse than Grayson at club level.
