Wow this place is dangerous. From our cossetted, civilised perspective, getting to and from the circuit seems to be a real-life video game which gets yearly updates.

Danger lurks around every corner, regardless of how many times it's been rounded before. The 'circuit' to get to the circuit is exciting for all the wrong reasons. For these people, life is cheap. Most live in abject poverty, right outside. The power vacuum is called 'give up or die son', and the race has become THE annual opportunity for wannabees and big-shots to out-perform each other.

Welcome to the Brazilian Gang Prix.

I remember years ago at the South African GP , one senior team member was walking along the beach with his partner , got stabbed ( survived ) .

The trouble is that F1 is surrounded by a lot of rich people and will attract attention.
I've traveled in Brazil many times and never met anyone who wasn't friendly even in Favelas.
Most Brazilians are so kind they will invite you into their homes and you will have a friend for life.

I once mentioned over a meal, that I was going down to Rio for a few days from Belo Horizonte and the next thing I knew, someone went round to a neighbour nearby, who had a relative in Ipenema who knew someone, that rented their 2 bed apartment on Copacabana for £100 a night and I could have it for as long as I needed it.
It was great! On the next road in from the beach we saved a fortune.

He can still win *

I can win the Lottery tonight .....

well... in clearly the fastest car with clearly the most obvious passing spot thats almost indefensible every single lap.. AND rain... AND any safety cars he could get up there.

I would not be on bottas to win this btw... even with hamilton at back.

btw my preference would be start on back of grid not in pit lane here. I reckon he can gain more in first corners than by being safe.

yeah, i didn't think he was on a white line or anything when it broke away do it must have been greasy, or the tyres and track temp were just not there.

You'd have to say the tyres weren't up to temperature the way it just slid away. Mistake from Hamilton, he'll be gutted but also pumped to make up for it in the race.

rain coming. ferrari needs a lap now as do red bull. everyone needs to pile out now or they could be out in q2.

ferrari are out but theres only minutes to set a time her with no mistakes

ferrari's safe too. verstappen i think as well.

vettel says rain is no issue. misty.

ricciardo doesn't look safe to me.

oh oh.... i think verstappen is in trouble.

i think he stalled it behind the mclaren and he was NOT inside the white line. I think the mechanics recovered it illegally.

Wonder if Mercedes have a 2018 spec PU to try out on Hamilton for these last two races? Might as well swap it all out now.

Tomorrow could be a cracker with the amount of drivers out of position.
