Yeah it is definitely a strange signing. Especially if he has faith in Livermore too as he can play a similar role. I'm indifferent about the signing and haven't really seen Diarra play in the last few years, but if Redknapp feels he is a big improvement to what we already have then he must be some player considering Sandro's performances last season.

I've been fearing that too. If that was the case I would be worried with Huddlestone's ability to get around the pitch and always be available to receive the ball. Maybe VDV could play in a similar role but that would mean playing 2 strikers and we can't even get one playing consistently well at the moment.
 
If Levy intends to sell Modric, why would he wait til the last day to do it?

Song was good in the season before last, where he played the holding role very effectively, but he's taken it upon himself to wander about a lot now and he's a worse player for it.

Presumably Diarra will go into the side ahead of Sandro if we sign him, though.

I think a player like Sandro is vital to our team. We look unbalanced, and defensively vulnerable in the middle, without him. Probably why Harry is so interested in Diarra. Huddlestone is a very good player, but he can't break up the opposition play the way those two can.

We also can't bring anyone in, he'd completely undermine himself with the fans and the manager and any players that wanted to leave would be demoralised and useless.

Neither, given their age, Arsenal do well to get where they are, they are far more mentally tougher than Spurs in my opinion

They're known for their mental weakness, even by their own fans.
There are lots of examples of them showing this weakness, the 4-4 with Newcastle after being 4-0 up, for example.

It's obviously not a known fact. However, all available evidence would lead to to concur with Ensil. After that? Who knows? It will depend on how well we do to some extent. If money is the overriding factor, however, then we just can't, or won't compete. Which is rather worrying!

What about when they beat United 1-0 or Chelsea 3-1 despite every man and his dog predicting the reverse result.

I'm not having a dig here but there is a reason why Spurs can't win at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge, it has nothing to do with ability as given the sides Spurs have have had down the years they are more than capable of winning on at least the odd ocassion. You've taken 2-0 leads at both OT and SB and still gone on to lose, 3-0 up to United at home and lost.

I admit Arsenal have their frailties (some of which psychological) but no-one gives them credit when they do actually get it right. Arsenal must be the only team in the country that hasn't got a bogey ground.

Chelsea for instance seem to bottle it every time they go to Villa Park, United are the same at Stamford Bridge, Spurs the same at Old Trafford and the Reebok, Sunderland whenever they play Newcastle, Liverpool against Arsenal (up until yesterday).

IMO Arsenal bottled it in 07/08 because they lost Flamini and Eduardo, had they have not got injured Arsenal would have gone on to win the league. In 10/11 they lost it because Nasri and Walcott's form dipped, from August-January they looked like world beaters. From February-May they looked like players that would have looked out of place in a Blackpool side. Once they lost their discipline and self belief that was when they truly lost the league.
 
On the basis of another shocking showing from Chelsea's midfield yesterday, I think we can expect Chelsea to step up their attempts to get Modric off us - they appear to have tried to play it cool over the last few weeks hoping Modric would do the work, which he hasn't.

Unless Chelsea start throwing silly money around and Modric starts making himself a nuisance at Spurs, I can't see a deal being done in this window.

They don't play the same role and the suggestion was that Chelsea needed a winger (Mata) and a playmaker (?).
 
That guy must have one of the most pun friendly names ever.
Mata makes it very easy anyway, but adding Juan to it is just ridiculous.
