So, just about a week & a half of the transfer window left and we've still got a small-ish squad. Okay, we've got more than the 16 needed to field a full team + bench, but we still need a bit more depth & Cotts has said he wanted 3 more players. The question is where should he be looking to strengthen? Currently we have: 2 Goalkeepers: Ashdown & Hendo 7 Defenders: Halford, Pearce, Rocha, Hermann, Daily, Ben Haim & Ward 5 Midfielders: Moko, Lawrence, Norris, Mullins & William 5 Strikers: Varney, Kanu, Kits, Benji & Huseklepp Personally I think we're pretty much fine in defence. We need a proper left midfielder if we're going to play 4-4-2 as Varney is really a striker/attacking winger, and we need a playmaker is essential as we really, really lack creativity in midfield. A striker would be good as well, especially if we're looking to move Kitson on.
Looking at that, Matt. I would say Goalies, fine, emergency loans etc, Defenders, one more and two more midfielders, no more strikers for now, if it has to be only three more allowed.
If we can sell Kitson for £2 million+ then maybe we could afford more than 3 players or 1 experienced/talented player to replace him. We desperately need a playmaker or a striker- depending on our formation. I think Bristol will sell Maynard for the right price, the same with Scunthorpe and Billy Sharp. I hope.we bid for Bradley Wright- Phillips of Carlton- though they do not want to sell him as they rejected all bids received this summer. Apparently Chelsea are reluctant to loan players- so.unfortunately can't see Lukaku coming anywhere near Fratton soon !!
Good Idea P_F_L.No chance of us getting £2 million for Kitson. Something like £500k and I'd accept, get rid of his wages to balance the books. Bring in someone that wouldn't demand massive wages, like Le Fondre, Baldock or maybe even Sordell? Midfield is priority though
