I'm sure as a committee we could genuinely probably run the football club very well.

I have that sick feeling tonight that I had when Roy Keane was in charge. And that is that it doesn't really matter what anyone on here thinks. It's up to Marcus Evans and Simon Clegg. Last time around they left it far too late. I pray that they have learned their lesson and axe PJ while there is still enough of the season for new manager syndrome to propel us up the table.

Jewell has brought in eight players so if he's telling us his players don't have the passion or ability then there is nowhere else to look.

Some people are saying that the problem lies higher up in the club and I would go along with that.

Unfortunately we can debate until the cows come home but it won't make a blind bit of difference and we could end up in a lot of trouble as a result of this week. No-one will want to sign for us now, we might even see Fulham recall Stockdale.

Evans needs to act now and fire the pair of them, but he won't.

Don't think sacking pj at this point would be a good idea, it woild surely mean another manager comes in and has a week to get in the players needed. That would be impossible an we would be left with tommy smith or ainsley in defence until jan.

I say let pj sign the players he wants and give him until xmas to prove what he can do with his players

Today he publicly singled out Lee Martin, who if you will remember was exiled until recalled by Jewell. He also said that other players had had enough chances: presumably he didn't give the captain's armband to someone he didn't have faith in, did he? So in that case he doesn't have faith in either Edwards or Delaney or Smith. We have a defensive crisis, we have no choice to play them and yet Jewell singles them out for public criticism.

What he should have said was that the decisions went against us, which no one can argue with. It's what Fergie would say, it's what Wenger would say. He should be backing his players and if he doesn't faith in them they certainly won't have faith in themselves.

I kind of agree with you Hampy, he should back the players but if you look at it from the other side he must feel so let down by them and probably thinks publicly humiliating them will give them the kick up the arse they need. Not saying this is right but he must be fuming over what he's just witnessed and rightly too.

In the two years Lambert has been at City, he has never blamed a player or players publicly once.

Unfortunately players in this day and age can't take criticism without sulking, so the only way to treat them is with kid gloves!

Perhaps it's an attempt by PJ to relate to the fans? Everyone can accept a tight game that's decided by a goal or two, but to lose 7-1 shows that there was something just wrong in the team. By saying that the players aren't performing, he could well just be telling it as it is, and being honest with the fans, rather than letting these overpaid show-ponies get away with a crap display.

That said, I don't wholly agree with lambasting players: especially not when it involves singling a player out for specific criticism. That always seems to be the wrong decision for me.

Was disappointed when we lost out on Stockdale and signed Lonergan, but he has been great so far!

Stockdale has surprisingly been good aswell, I bet Fulham are pleased though as he certainly is having alot of practice!!!

As a Saints fan, I've just watched the highlights and if Paul Jewell knew anything about football or Peterborough United there's no way he would have played such a high line with such slow centre backs. Same thing happened four times over before any significant change in approach. I don't know if he always waits till you're 3 goals down before making tactical changes but I think at 4-1 it's a bit late to start defending in numbers. I think he could take issue with all the goals in the second half as the defending particularly from your midfield was poor, but all you could see was that there was no confidence or desire to get forward.

If you'd seen Peterborough last season you would know that even at 4-1 down you shouldn't give up as they are poor at the back. But my guess is by looking at Jewell on the touchline is that he gave them a rollicking when you could see the goals were more down to tactical decisions than individual errors.

I thought the first red card was a bit unlucky as he got the ball first and you could see the linesman's eyes were not in the right place at the key moment. The second was very poor defending, but I think the reason you lost 7-1 was down to frustrated, demoralised players, and a good manager should have been able to turn that game round with the players you have. It's Peterborough not Barcelona. I'd be demanding a change if I were you.

Thanks for your thoughts Doom but Jewell has won three promotions in his management career, I'm sure he is aware of the tactical basics you've just highlighted. Problem is our defenders are woefully bad and no members of the team have any confidence, going forward or defending, plus we have midfielders and wingers who can't be bothered to track runners and help out defending.
