    Wasn't Pipkins the 12 o'clock ish fare then the news.
    Early afternoon was Trumpton, Candlewick Green Bagpus and Mary Mungo and Midge.
    There's was an interlude in the afternoon where you got the test screen.
    Then late afternoon you got back to kids programmes.

    Sat afternoon Grandstand on BBC, when all games kicked-off at 3 p.m. and the results came through on the video-printer one by one (letter- by-letter) around 4:45.
    Oh, the bloody tension ! Click,click,click...

    That sounds about right.

    I think Bagpuss et al could be on at dinner, or could be on around 3.30 on BBC2 (I'm talking early 80s), just before the children's TV part would start on 1 or 3.

    Button Moon would be another fave.

    I remember when C4 was launched and the excited talk of it at school. Only to run home to find a programme about maths and English was on.
