Yes, the coalition government changed the rules to make it easier for employers. A breach of procedure would have resulted in reinstatement or compensation under the old rules. Now it only means they can win the case but get nothing, no compensation, no reinstatement. What the groundsmen have to show is that if the procedure had been fair they wouldn't have been sacked. This afternoon is all about trying to show that.

That's fair enough isn't it?

Sounds the right way about things to me.

What a complete waste of time and money this all is for everyone.

Except the barristers and the court.

But it's not, Bob.

This takes it from sport to earning a fair living. We've all bent the rules, but this response is against any decent expectations. I have enjoyed the re-Tweets, but it will be how the nationals take it up that will be the decider. But you...

But it is. How much money getting pissed to the courts over technicalities and the sake of a piss pot sum of money to keep the pit quiet.

Somebody can be sacked for not following the company's rules but the boss is allowed to break the rules in sacking him or her. Hardly seems fair to me.

If you deserve to be sacked you deserve to be sacked, I fail to see why you should deserve a reward too on a procedural technicality.

Of course the boss can break his own rules, he's the boss, he can do whatever the **** he wants.

There is an argument to be had, but that's not a good one.

If the boss could do whatever he wants, why is he having to attend a tribunal after admitting unlawful dismissal?

I've read some bollocks in my time, and that second paragraph is right up there with the best of 'em, and don't come back with any whoosh comment, it's at best a dickhead comment to make.
