It was a joint decision by all mods on here, and only after a fair amount of discussion between us, and taking into account the past history, and extra work he generated.

It's certainly the case that some posters rounded on his name rather than the content, but we tried to resolve that using PM's in the background. I guess looking at it we failed there, but it wasn't a snap decision by one mod, but a considered one by all of us, and it was an act of last resort.

EDIT. We tried to balance things for the benefit of the majority, but with an eye on the wider issue.

You and the others making that point are right. Some do get away with more than others.

It's not an exact science, and we won't always get it right, which is why I think discussions like this are useful.

We don't want to ban anyone, especially not regular board users, but sometimes, things need a cooling off period, and if you've one v more, it's more pragmatic to remove the one if all else has been tried and failed.

In Patty's case, it was disrupting quite a few discussions, and yes, I know others do too.

Sometimes, what we believe to be the best for the board, isn't necessarily fair.

We also need to balance the views that are posted on here, with the other comments we get, generally with an opposing opinion.
