About time! Sounds like they've been targeting Madders with kicks to the achilles.

Edit: It was Yanic who was fouled.

First time this season, I believe, that NCFC are ahead of the Bin men in the table.
And who do we play next weekend? :emoticon-0112-wonde
And no midweek games, so hopefully a couple of players might be fully fit, what do you say Nelson? <ok>

Credit to the boys to keep giving 100% for 96+ minutes.
I can think of recent city teams where heads would have dropped after 70 minutes or so.
We're certainly made of sterner stuff this season, Ja, for sure! <ok>

Wonderful expressions of positivity. At home, against a team who haven’t won away for months and with 10 men for the last 31 minutes. What’s this 4 goals in what 8 games?

Well that was a frustrating game - a few thoughts on what I saw there today:

We're going to miss Josh - Really disappointed with Wildschut today. I didn't think he beat either full back once, never used his pace to any great effect, and was lacking in end product for most of the game. Now admittedly that last point isn't one of Josh's strengths, but nevertheless I wasn't impressed with the Dutch winger. We need the outlet a winger provides to compliment the rest of our midfield, and he wasn't providing it.

Klose develops RyBen syndrome - He was announced pre-game as "Klosse" on the big screen, and he played like a different person today at times. Several "Hollywood" passes misplaced by a mile today, and he then let that impact his simpler passes. Mostly solid defensively, but his distribution slipped below his usual standard.

I don't understand Vrancic Farke raves about him, the highlights make him look good, and according to WhoScored he was our best player today - but I just don't get it. Two decent passes and one tackle were the only positive contributions I noticed today. I've had this thought before, so I paid special attention to him, but I don't think I'm missing anything! Off the ball he's a passenger. His closing down is halfhearted and never worries the opposition, he doesn't track back and he wins nothing in the air despite his height. When we're in possession, he doesn't seem to know whether he's a wide midfielder or playing centrally. He frequently overplays the ball, and seems incapable of shooting when well placed. I was convinced he'd be hauled off for Wes at half time, that he stayed on 90 minutes truly baffled me.

We'd rather overplay the ball than play percentage passes It's the 80+ minute, we've got Jerome, Oliveira and Klose stationed in the box, and we're playing 10 men. So why are we trying to play through the width of the penalty box? Stiepermann stationed himself against the left touchline, but there was a real reluctance to sling the ball into the box, instead Wes, Maddison and Vrancic repeatedly tried to thread the needle through a swarm of defenders. It's all very well having footballing principles, and having the talent to try and play that well, but the plan B wasn't there.

He does somehow seem a luxury player we can ill afford in the rough and tumble league we're in.
Give me a Howsonesque engine all day - sadly we don't really have one any longer :(

Only just watched this and looks like we were EASILY the better team and we got a bit sloppy.

This from the Archant report on the game - "City’s German head coach was threatened with being sent off by Mr Stroud for his exuberance in the dying moments of a game that stretched his squad’s unbeaten run to eight matches after Oliveira’s close range back heel cancelled out Nouha Dicko’s first half goal.!!" <yikes>

And in his post match interview he said -
"Listen, if I have to do that again I will go in the stand because it would mean we had won the game"
That's almost an English sense of humour!!

I can't agree about Wildschut, DH. Both the radio and text commentaries were singing his praises, especially in the first half. He isn't a winger in the sense you suggest, but rather an attacking wide player more in the Hucks mold. If he'd done better when clean through on the keeper, we'd have probably won.

I do agree about Klose though. He has been below par for a few games now. I also agree about Vrancic who is great going forward but a liability when the ball is lost.

We'll have to agree to disagree there Rick. Whether that's his natural role or not, he was definitely playing as a winger rather than a wide midfield role like Vrancic had. He had a spell in the first half from his 1v1 until half time (when he swapped wings) where he looked alright, but otherwise I didn't see a lot to get excited about. Paddy Davitt described him as "willing", and that's about as much of a compliment as I'd give too. He'd take the ball and try and beat his man, but he so rarely succeeded, and when he did, he'd then try and beat two more and lose it.

A related issue I had was he seemed reluctant to run it into space off the ball. Rather than try and break past the full back to try and receive the ball ahead of him, he always wanted the ball first, then to try and beat the defender - with predictable results.

There were several moments where he just seemed to lack awareness. For example, Gunn collected the ball and threw it out quickly to Pinto, creating a half-chance for a break. Pinto and Vrancic exchanges passes and looked to get forward, whilst Wildschut was still slowly jogging back to the halfway line, blissfully unaware that Gunn had even dispatched the ball.
