You are forgetting you can press the X button* after they shoot to assist with the shot ....

As opposed to judging someone by their complete lack of ability with a ball....

We bemoan all the time our lack of creativity, yet people dismiss a player with obvious talent or expect him to turn the tap on the moment he gets on the pitch.

All I have asked for and I'll say it again and again... play the lad for 6 games MINIMUM in a row and then let us judge if he can do it.

Absolutely right. In the late summer, I got into a conversation with a waiter who was a St Etienne fan. He couldn't believe we'd sacked Puel and didn't play Sofiane. Jeez. We could still put one of these mysteries right!

It's not hard to get. Like Rickie said in the interview that has its own thread, you have to have game time. If we play him for 6 games on the trot, as you suggest, he'll screw up a few times, but will have the chance to get into the pace of Premier League football. I still think he could be the answer to a lot of the problems we have.

Honestly, I'd make it 10, and probably more. He's absolutely enormously talented technically [possibly/probably the most technically gifted player in the squad] and a potential match winner. Just occasionally he is allowed enough time on the pitch where he gives us a tiny glimpse of what he is capable of in the odd move or two. And most players need to play regularly to give of their best [I know I don't need to tell you that] because it builds match fitness, a rhythm and a personal confidence. It's better if the team are winning, but it isn't absolutely necessary, if the lad grows as a player. And he's got so much ability to do so. I hate seeing skill being held back. Imo, he could be as effective as Mane was if we gave him a proper chance.

Tbf, it wasn't a single goal. It was a series of technical skills that you may of missed amongst the absences. And there was the other goal too. He hit it with so much power, control and whip that the keeper didn't even move:

Who's dismissing him? I'm remaining sceptical because so far he looks pretty much all show and no go. With all his fancy ability on the ball, so far we have seen very little in terms of goals and assists or that he was instrumental in overturning the result of the match. But I agree that he needs to be given a run in the team. It's not a risky move (our other attacking players are equally ineffective - I'm looking at you, Nathan) and it can pay off so it's a no brainer. I am pretty much in the 'let give him matches and see' camp so I don't see why are you taking it with me. You should take it with those who glorify him without even watching how he'll do with a run of matches. :) But I guess it's allowed to judge beforehand if one's judgement is on the positive side.

MP2 is now in the position of really really needing points. He has a team that does ok apart from scoring goals. I suspect he will generally persevere with the team (apart from minor tweaks) on the basis that eventually someone will score or some opposition player will gain us a penalty or OG. Not sure he is a maverick who will give any fringe player a run of several games. Tough on players and fans, but that is what happens when the team isn't complete crap or running away with the league....no chances will be taken.
