Yea I'm gutted as the next guy that he left but we have managed to get £35million for him. In the chronicle it lists the most expensive players and he's in pretty good company:

1 Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United to Real Madrid, 2009, £80m

2 Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Inter Milan to Barcelona, 2009, £56.5m

3 Kaka - AC Milan to Real Madrid, 2009, £56m

4 Fernando Torres - Liverpool to Chelsea, 2011, £50m

5 Zinedine Zidane - Juventus to Real Madrid, 2001, £46.5m

6 Luis Figo - Barcelona to Real Madrid, 2000, £37m

7 Hernan Crespo - Parma to Lazio, 2000, £35.5m

8 Andy Carroll - Newcastle to Liverpool, 2011, £35m

9 David Villa - Valencia to Barcelona, 2010, £34m

10 Gianluigi Buffon - Parma to Juventus, 2001, £32.6m

For someone who has only 14 premiership goals to his name, couldn't hit 20 goals in the championship last season and it seems like he could be injured a fair bit. I don't think it's such a bad deal.

We should (barring any complete collapses) stay up this season. Move on during the summer and finally push on with strength all over the pitch. It also gives Ranger, Airey, Donaldson etc room to push on and make a name for themselves.

The more I read into it, the happier I am with this.

It's only a good deal if we actually get to use the money though, otherwise we've just lost our top goalscorer for nothing.

Its a good deal only if Ashley puts the money back into the club during the summer so we can strengthen and try and get into the Europa league next season.

I'm sure he will. At the end of the day he will be able to sell the club for a lot more if we are kicking around Europe rather than fighting relegation. He's a complete cock but he's not an idiot when it comes to business

But let's face it, he was never going to stay for life. As much as we all dreamt he would it wasn't going to happen.

After this transfer window no club is going to be able to afford to spend £35 million on one player because of the new laws coming in. So we have got the most we possibly could, for someone who could quite easily drift off and become the next Heskey.

Best time to sell him for the best price.

The problem I have with this is we can't get any one because the window is shut!

To be fair I probably would have accepted £35 million, but I wouldn't force AC out, and I certanly wouldn't give him a new contract after just getting one signed, espcially not for £80k which has been mentioned.

We cannot go down that route, because then we would have (and quite rightly) Barton, Nolan, Tiote, Jose etc saying 'hang on a minute I want £80k a week!' then were would we be? Sky high wages like last time and ending up with players that just wanted money and not be up for playing (like MO and MV)

I do think tho that AP should have worked harder to get Crouch or Pav in on loan for 6 months

Its £35m plus incentives so he will go above Crespo.

A mate told me he was the 7th most expensive signing, I was trying to figure out all the others. Got Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Kaka, Torres - forgot Ibrahimovich <doh>
