What was behind the decision to offload him? Strange one.

QPRnet: We get to the summer, we are promoted to The Premier League and the club decides to move you on. What happened there and how disappointed were you not to stay?

KG: It's hard to even explain how disappointed I was. That was my dream to play in The Premier League and then I get told the club needed money to sign new players, that I was the one that can move on and and I could sign for whoever I wanted. That was a very hard time for me because I was so close to realising my dream but when you are being played as a winger in pre-season then you know the manager isn't really counting on you. It was another learning curve and maybe if I could do it all again then I would try to sit it out and prove to the club that I was still needed.

We should've kept that defence and keeper. They had something like 25 clean sheets that season.

Should've would've could've. What a mess that was then. And then to sack Uncle Neil right away for lovely Christmas. And we weren't even doing that badly. <doh>

He's nearly 36 but still going. Played for Latvia last night.

Currently at Dukla Prague but he's been there two years and has only three appearances (and three goals!).

Agree completely. But being completely honest about it, Uncle Neil sold him to get some money and then when Uncle Tone gave him a blank chequebook he spent 2-3 times as much replacing him with Anton bloody Ferdinand not to mention, super SWP and Joey Barton. If it was true, I would have gone cap in hand to Gorkss explained why I'd had to let him ago against my better judgment and given him a payrise and massive apology to get him back immediately. The wages for Barton alone and the length of their contracts sowed the seeds for his own demise. He's the best manager we've had for decades who was hamstrung and first and then hung out to dry when the first moment of panic beset our clear-minded super entrepreneur owner but he isn't infallible.

I see Ferdinand was sent off for Southend yesterday.
